Hey guys, first time to the forum. I've got a '99 XLT and I'm looking to put on some custom rims/tires. I've read up and I believe that the bolt pattern is 5x4.5 (or 114.3 mm), but what is the maximum size of rim that I can put on? Some of the online dealers claim that 20x8.5" will be fine, but I'm also wondering about a 22x9.5". Will that be too big? Are these usually tough to install? Thanks for any help... :D

with body lifts tt shackels will all raise your car to fit bigger wheels, but as a complete guess because stock can fit 30" tires i would say your safe with 20's

You can fit 22s with 35 series tires with no problems. Im gunna have a X-Spec 1/2" Drop with 22s, and Ive been informed by ExplorerExpress and the rim store they should fit no problem

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm going to go to a local place on Wednesday with some very good advertised prices and see what they have to offer. If anyone has the time, would you mind checking out this link? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Set-of-4-20-Zinik-Shogun-Rims-Toyo-Proxes-S-T-Tires_W0QQitemZ8023479614QQcategoryZ66486QQcmdZViewItem I've been talking with the guy about it and he says that they'll fit on my X. How could that be if he had them on a 6 bolt Yukon? Does anyone know anything about these wheels? I have seen retailers say that Zinik Shoguns fit Explorers, but wouldn't it be a different 5 lug version? Any help is appreciated.

I have never seen wheels that have 5 and 6 bolt patterns, so I am gonna say they wont fit. Those tires wouldn't fit anyway. My wheels are 20x8.5 with +35mm offset. They tuck in like the stock wheels. Since I am running a 275 wide tire, I had to use tie wire to hold back the e-brake cable on the rear drivers side.
