hello! I have a '97 EX Eddie Bauer - I am looking to add video in dash (DVD, TV Turner, etc) I have the JBL audio package ...Is my stock unit double-din or 1 1/2 din? and what major mods do I have to make? I'd like to keep the changer (the units I have been looking at have a CDC input on them) but if I have to replace, so be it. EBay has some good deals on units with DVD changers ...but they say they are double Din.

what do I do to get this done? Thanks in advance for the assistance

i just installed the avic-d1 in my 2000 x it is just a hair smaller then 2 din all i had to do to get it to fit is shave a little bit off of the radio bezal and get a double din mounting kit

ditto..

i had a different unit, but i had to shave the inside lip of the radio bezel. the unit was taller, yet thinner than the space, so i got some foamy black insulation stuf and put it in the sides and it looks like it is supposed to be there unless you stare really hard at it.

the dark black spots are from where i scrathced the bezel on a previous installation.

u want a very nice indash screen... check out the kenwood ddx-7017 or the ddx-8017 i got the the 7017 with tv tuner, ipod hook up. you can fine tune your system. frequencies etc... cut your subs on and off. option for navigation... back up camera. as far as fine tuning your system it has everything my pioneer deh9600 (i think it was) except ofcourse it has the screen etc... looks quite similair to mynameisaric's screen. great picture qaulity. so much stuff on it that it was a pain to figure out. but i'm learning. anyways i'm extremely impressed with it. u should definitely check it out. its a double din unit so a little trimming is needed. but in 2 hrs i had it hooked up and installed. minus the antennas for the tv tuner... just the week before i purchased a clarion in dash flip out screen. compared to this unit it is absolutely pathetic imo. i'm so thankfull it was defective cuz i'd still be stuck with it. and i wouldn't even know what i was missing. the kenwood is a bit pricey imo. (once u add tv tuner, ipod hookup and a warranty) but u do get what u pay for. and in this case i think it was definitely worth the $$$
