so ive been upgrading most of my wiring and come across the main harness from the alt to the sylinoid(sp) . when it gets to the sylinoid it gos into this protective jacket were it y's into the sylinoid. can i just cut the protective cover off of it and go to the bigger wire or what?..... also looking at the wiring i see what looks like a fusible link on one of the ends of the wire. can i get ride of that and run the biger wire also or can i piggy back it.............................

o ya. i redid some of the grounds to and added a 1/0 gauge strap from fram to body on the back of my truck to. im trying to lessen the drag on the alt when my system hits real hard

There is no need to replace the alternator wiring; just add to it.
