View Full Version : Probable Causes?

I have a '99 Explorer with approximate 207K miles. The check engine light is on and the car is running rough. I brought it in to be scanned and the error codes were P0301 and P0306 - cylinders 1 & 6 are misfiring. The wires are fairly new and appear to be okay. My mechanic says that the cause for this error can be a lot of reasons. I have an appointment to have it fixed.

To satisfy my morbid curiousity about all the things that can be wrong. What kinds of problems can these codes indicate?

Moe.

how old are the actual spark plugs? A lot of things can cause misfires - too little or too much fuel, bad spark plugs or wires, bad coil pack, etc, etc.

I think they are less than a year. I thought they are supposed to get 100K. They seem to be firing regularly though. I had a mechanic look at that.
