View Full Version : anyone who is looking for a Dremel.... Hartman 04-06-2006, 10:44 AM Radio Shack has them on sale for $20 http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2104728 huskyfan23 04-06-2006, 11:25 AM Awesome deal. I killed mine a while ago shooting CD's up the street. briwayjones 04-06-2006, 11:34 AM That's a good deal but I wouldn't recommend getting a 1 or 2 speed Dremel. The speed, even the slow speed is just too fast for a lot of things. There so fast they're almost useless. I would bite the bullet and get the variable speed that goes from 5,000-35,000RPM. 00XLS 04-06-2006, 11:39 AM I'm gonna have to purchase, I have a gift card for $25 from there. I can't think of a better way to use it. Thanks for the find ! Hartman 04-06-2006, 12:52 PM That's a good deal but I wouldn't recommend getting a 1 or 2 speed Dremel. I agree but $20 is a pretty good deal for people who won't abuse it. 410Fortune 04-06-2006, 02:29 PM My crafstman is toasted after many many many many long hours of use.... I am planning to take it apart as I think just the brushes need a good cleaning, but I am now thinking I will pick up this $20 bad boy on my way home as well..... I love this site, we dont miss anything..... Hartman 04-06-2006, 02:36 PM For anyone looking for a heavier duty variable speed version, I have beat the hell out of my Black and Decker Firestorm and it still works perfectly. I think I paid somewhere around $40 a couple years ago. rikguy 04-07-2006, 10:48 AM There's a 4 speed model on sale at Harbor Freight for the same price. Anyone know anything about that one? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=40457 briwayjones 04-07-2006, 11:42 AM I agree but $20 is a pretty good deal for people who won't abuse it. What I was refering to is that it's too fast for the materials a lot of times. For instance so fast that you melt plastic trying to buff it with a buffing wheel, or burn wood sanding it. Plastics can be especially tricky. sn0border88 04-09-2006, 10:07 AM ive got the cordless one that goes from 5k to 35rpm and i would definatly reccommend going cordless. Its not as good ovbiously for extended persiods of grinding/cutting but if you have many small projects its worth the extra not to have to run the cord around everywhere, plus I can pack it up and take it on the trail if I would ever need it. If im doing small things, like cutting plastic, thin metal, sharpening tools, deburring, ect the battery will last all day, but I have a second one I keep charged anyways. cybergasm 04-11-2006, 10:46 PM If anybody is thinking about getting this Dremel from Radio Shack better get there soon due to the fact that it discontinued item i check around this weekend at my local radio shack and 2 others near by and there were sold out :( oh well i guess i'll have to check that one from Harbor Freight instead. BrooklynBay 04-11-2006, 11:35 PM I have 4 cordless Rotozip copies that I bought a few years ago to sell. I still have them. The Rotozip is a little bulkier, but is made for more heavy duty usage. |
