I am wondering how do I remove the black surround from around the radio of my 99 explorer xlt? I want to paint it and I tried the 2 scews underneath the radio but it took the radio and all out. All I want to remove is the bezel itself, not the radio.

The radio is attached to the bezzel there is no way to only remove the bezzel and leave the radio in. After you remove the entire bezzel you will be able to remove the radio from the bezzel without the special tool.
