View Full Version : Before and After in 3 months
Perry 07-18-2000, 07:45 AM Here are some pictures of our before and after on our 1994 Exploder XLT. We bought it at Klodes in Casper just for this reason. My dad has a one man shop ( I help part time )I can't afford new besides if I did buy it from a dealer, then I wouldn't have money to add the toys.
We had to replace the bumper, grill, fender, front door, fix rear door, fix rear quarter.
We started by doing the body work, then took it on a trip to the four corners. As soon as we got back we started on the 5.5" superlift. I did it over father's Day weekend so it was hard getting help. I also had trouble with Superlift since they sent the wrong part, but they were real good at getting me the right one.
Thanks to David M. for helping me on the rear part.
We went to have the tires put on and after taking it off the jack, we found they would hit the fenders, so it was back to my dad's shop and we cut the fenders back so we could get to a family reunion in Nebraska which was in two days. We still want to go on a couple of trails to make sure we cut them back enough.
We are runnning 33" tires on 15X10 rims which is part of the problem, but I like the looks a LOT better.
Things to come are a rear bumper with a tire rack, fender flares which are ordered. This will be a daily driver, but we do plan on playing in the mountains with it also.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and hope to meet some of you on the trails.
Thanks to Matt for helping me get the photo's on here.

Perry 07-26-2000, 06:38 AM So far they have done real well, but haven't had a chance to really try them out yet.
They do throw the rocks and mud. Last four-wheel trip we took we came back pretty dirty.

$hit man, nice ride, really did a serious turn around from the old beat up look, to the new and good looking fresh look. How many ours did you put into your XLT?! Again, can't get over how good it looks, have a good time, be safe and most important, have fun!!!
Perry 09-24-2000, 10:04 AM The one thing you don't want to do when you are working on your own vehicle is keep track of the hours.
Belive it or not, most of the hours where in doing all the painting inside the doors and jams.
I think between my dad and I we had only a week of work in the body work part of it.
We could have left it white and made it a LOT easier,
but then WHO WANTS ANOTHER WHITE XLT!!! LOL
If you are going to do it, do it is style!!!
And if you aske anyone from the CCR2000 run, yes we do four wheel it. It's not just a pretty ride for the road.
