:us: HI ALL, I'M NEW TO THE SITE BUT I'M OLD PEOPLE, HE,HE. I HAVE A 91 ELPLORER XLT THAT WILL NOT START. I WAS LEAVING A FRIENDS PLACE A FEW WEEKS AGO MY TRUCK STARTED JUST LIKE IT ALWAYS HAS, I DROVE A FEW FEET DOWN HIS GRAVEL DRIVE MY TRUCK DIED AND HAS NOT STARTED OR EVEN TRIED TO START SINCE THEN I HAVE PUT TWO NEW BATTERIES IN AND IT STILL WILL CRANK BUT NOT START I DON'T EVEN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP RUN WHEN I TURN THE KEY ON. I HAVE ALSO TRIED A SUNPRO CODE SCANNER AND IT WILL NOT READ OR SHOW ANY OF THE CODES, THE BOOK TELLS ME I HAVE TO FIX WHAT IS WRONG BEFORE IT CAN READ THE CODES (DUH), SO MUCH FOR THAT MONEY. I ALSO HAVE CHANGED THE COIL PACK AND THAT DID NOT HELP EITHER. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND TROUBLE. JAMES SORRY THIS IS SO LONG.

Welcome to the board. Have you tried re-setting the fuel pump? The re-set switch is at the top of the passenger's side floorboards. If it's tripped, your fuel pump won't run. It's an inertia switch.

If not that, I'd suspect the fuel pump relay, a fuse or the fuel pump itself. You should hear the fuel pump whine when you turn on the key.

Also taking off the caps lock will be appreciated and help us out too. ;)

hi j. draper, i tried re-setting the pump and also the relays. i even switched them around but i still got the same results could the re-set be bad if so is their a way to by pass it. thanks for your help. james

There's also a 30 amp maxi fuse in the power distribution center that could have blown. The PDC is located on the passenger fender well. After that I'd try running some propane from a bottle through the intake tract to ensure that the issue is fuel related (Just make sure to feed the propane in prior to the MAF sensor, or you'll make the computer all confused :D)
