I have a stock 03 4x4 sport trac, I found a set of 15X8 Rock crawler wheels with BFG AT KO 31X10.50r15. Will these fit my truck with no issues? I will be keeping it on the paved road until I decide on lifts. What back spacing should I look for?
Thanks for any info, Troy.

Yea I spoke to Joe and he said was not as familiar with the sport tracs. But either way thanks for info, I was looking 3.75. I wish I could find someone that has a picture of a stock 03 with 31's.

At full turn, you'll likely have front rubbing. I'm looking at 30.8" tires (P275, etc.) and they will rub ever so slightly.

They should fit fine. Most 15x8 rims have 3.75" backspace, you also need a 4.5" diameter bolt circle. That will set the tire out a little farther than stock, so clearance should not be a problem with a 31x10.50-15.
FWIW, Ranger FX4 Level II's have 31x10.50's stock from the factory.

Sometimes it depends on the rim, but probably not. Until maybe 2005, base Tracs had 15" wheels. The Ford dealer near my office has a brand new Ranger 4x4 on the lot with 15's.

maybe it was just the sports then that where given the larger brakes?

I don't know. I think it's just a matter of Ford saving money by standardizing things and putting 16's on most everything. 16's were optional or included in various packages on Explorers since 95 and Rangers since 98, even before the brakes got bigger. It's not a matter that they HAD to put 16" wheels on because of bigger brakes, or that 15's won't fit. Most will.
Frankly if I was going to buy a whole set of new wheels and tires I'd get 15's because you'll save upwards of $200 or more. Not a big difference in the rim prices but 16" tires often cost a lot more than 15" tires of the same overall size. A 305/70-16 is the same overall size as a 33x12.50-15 but they'll cost as much as $50 more for the same tire, and most of us buy tires more often than we do rims so you save money over time too and not just when you buy the first set.
