When the news first broke about the tire recall, I had my girlfriend take our '93 Sport down to the local Firestone dealer to get the straight poop on what was going on. Our Explorer has the original set of ATX tires. An employee crawled under the car and checked the DOT numbers and told her that these particular tires were not part of the recall. Upon learning what he told her, I think "okay" and that was the end of it until I starting checking out all of the info available at this web site. Needless to say we went back and straightened things out and we were told we would get a new set of tires in about 2 1/2 weeks. Point of this story: Don't take the word of the dealer, check it out yourself.

They wanted me to schedule an appointment on Friday to check the DOT code of the tire, something I had already done long before....though the Ford Dealer has me in in less than 2 weeks.

TJ, I didn't know there was any other people with the Bauer name on this board! Funny thing is that my Dad's name is Edward. that is just to cool!
