I called the Firestone dealer yesterday to see if the forms for the recall refund had come in yet........

"What forms? There are no forms. You have to bring your vehcile here and we do the exchange". After asking for a manager, I was told the forms were in fact in........

I stopped into my Firestone dealer yesterday to pick up a Voluntary Surrender form and turn in my ATXs........

When we went out to my truck, he looks at my new Dunlops and says "I see you spared no expense, huh? "...inferring that I bought the best tires out there at Firestone's expense.....I replied "These cost me $83.00 each.the ATXs are $76.........." HE said "Oh.really?" <smile>

Then he starts looking at my old tires and right off says "These aren't on the recall list." I said "Whaddayamean?" He said "These don;t have ID #'s that start with "VD"...I said "These are ATXs...ALL ATXs are being recalled".......he says "Oh...you're right."...........

The moral of the tale? DO YOUR RESEARCH! Don't rely on the dealers to set things right!

I went to the tire place where I had mine replaced yesterday after work and had them fill out the dealer claim form. The refund form is on line at http://www.firestone.com You print it out and fill out everything and send it in. I kept the reciept from the exchange, but this was before I knew it was required to write down the info from the tires and they are now disposed of. I'm sending it off today, hopefully the refund will still be issued. The spare was exchanged yesterday for free. Shame, it had never even been used in the 9.5 years it has been on the truck.

Your right about the dealers, some will try to mislead you if they think they can, but if your know what your talking about they will eventually get the point that your not falling for their crap.
