I've waited, and waited, and waited, it's finally time to break down and get something.

My main interest is driving games. I'm not interested in adventure games.

Which system should I get???

Well as my daughter is the game player I asked her. She said that the playstation 3 beats the xbox360 by a mile. But then she has not got a WII yet so don't know how they compare.

Wii is a blast, but I have only one racing type game, which is 4x4 World Circut or something:rolleyes: It ok, I don't really play it anymore. you contol it like a real steering wheel though, which takes some getting use to. Wii's are imposiable to find though. for driving games I would get a Xbox or PS3. Or if unsure, just go to Blockbuster and rent a few different syatems and see which you like;)

i have both the ps3 and xbox 360, the xbox 360 is hands down better. The PS3 just doesnt have anything close to the selection and quality of games yet. And for racing i just got forza motorsports 2 and it is one hell of a fun racing game. nothing like smashing up a 250k car and actually seeming the damage. I smashed up a new corvette bad enough where i even saw the exhaust fall off lmao.

Personally I'm going with the PS3, I already have a PS2 so I don't want all those games to go to waste and the majority of the games that I play come out on both systems. Plus I really want it for the BluRay player...

I have a 360 and I like it, but if you ask me, the PS3 might be a better console down the line. Right now, you can't really beat the 360 when it comes to game selection and price (not counting the Wii).

Even though owning an Xbox and an Xbox 360 I will try to give a non bias opion... I think that both the ps3 and 360 have great graphics, the PS3 does have the blue ray player which is not cheap at all if you buy seperate from the console. The xbox really stands out when you are talking about being able to game with friends, I love being able to jump and and talk to friends even if they are playing different games. Some one metioned forza motorsports, what a GREAT game without a doubt! Some people don't like it cause when going around turns thy just turn the wheel and it goes out of control, well in real life I am pretty sure that doing 150 and trying to make a shape U-turn without even touching the breaks you prolly won't make the turn.
Even though forza would be one of my favorite games ever, there are many good driving games for both systems.

You should maybe look into a few computer games, some decent driving games on computers. one game that I love on computers or atleast loved would be something along the lines of cabela's 4x4 off road adventures I belive it was, I used to own the game and you could complete trick out your rig and had to do missions with it and it was all offroading WOOT WOOT,and just like forza damage was real, I have tried looking all over for it.

Same here, Especially with Forza 2 comming out(http://forzamotorsport.net/), the 360 is what you want. :D

Project Gotham 3 is pretty sick too.

Im suprised nobody has said PC yet. A PC has better graphics and load time then any console ever will imo.

When it comes to certain games, I'd rather have a console to play especially since I don't want to invest in a wheel and crap for the PC. Shooting games, I'd much rather play with a mouse and keyboard but games like sports and racing, I'd rather have a controller in my hands.

Ya good point, racing games would be better on console. But shooting PC all the way.

I got the PS3, mainly because of the BluRay. I figured it was a good entry into both gaming and HD video in one shot.

I know the majority of you guys are more into offroad oriented stuff, but if you want to play a driving game that is VERY realistically tweakable, search for "Live for Speed". There is an Alpha S2 beta version or something like that available that gives you 3 different cars to choose from. You can tweak gear ratios, diff ratios, tire pressures, suspension stiffness, caster, camber, toe, etc. It all impacts the driveability of the cars. I believe the 3 cars available on the demo version are a VW Golf, some kind of Nissan and its turbo-charged counterpart.

I've had the demo for quite some time. I've contemplated buying the full version, but there is so much to learn about the car mods that I'm not to the point where I'm bored yet.

PS - NOTHING beats a PC for first person shooters. :-) I compete in a Call of Duty/Call of Duty: UO tactical realism clan (we crouch and use a program called TeamSpeak to communicate with each other about positions, flanking, etc). We play on a ladder system called the TWL. You can snag the original CoD at WallyWorld for like $10. Everyone should grab a copy... classic online multiplayer.

x2 on the Wii. Even if it doesnt have the greatest racing games and what not, its still a blast!
And after playing tennis for 2 hrs on the Wii, you get a nice workout :D

Rick, if you could give us a review in a few weeks I would appreciate it. I am pretty much set on getting a PS3 for mainly the same reasons as you but $599 is quite a bit on money for me.

UPS just delivered Motor Storm... HOLY SHIT!! That's the best game I have EVER played or seen:D

The crashes are awesome, the vehicles handle excellent and the tracks are very challenging.

I didn't realize that the PS3 was just like a WII in that the controller is "six axis" and with the right games it steers the vehicle without the use of a joystick. I started Motor Storm using the joystick, but now that I found out about the six axis mode, I like that much better. Steering input is very "natural" in six axis mode.

I haven't picked up a Blu Ray DVD yet. That's next on the list:D

Heck yeah rick once you get online (Sony online is FREE) then we can p[lay Motor Storm against each other :)

The controllers are so light and the batteries last FOREVER

PS3 = wicked cool

I watched Aeon Flux in our new theater on blue Ray, 73" DLP Mitsubishi
We built a "man cave" as Julee calls it last weekend, FYI Dark colors are a PITA to get to cover on the wall and black carpet is hella cool

73" Holy Cow!!!

This is the first video game that actually made my stomach sink when I fell off of a cliff:D It looks just like Moab and it just isn't natural to jump down 100 feet into a canyon:eek: but you can do it in this game!!

So Rick how do you like your PS3 now, I just picked up mine earlier this week and I couldn't be happier with it. I'm so glad that I went with the PS3 over the 360. I downloaded the MotorStorm demo and I have to say that that game is awesome. Still haven't watched a Bluray movie yet, I'm still waiting for my HDMI cable to get here...

I am telling you right now, go out and get the PS3. You won't be disappointed, there are demos and videos of Gran Tursimo, they look awesome. If I were you, go out and get the 60GB PS3 now, because sony has said that once the 60gb ($499) sells out, they will only have the 80GB MotorStorm combo ($599)

When we got the Xbox switching from the ps2 it made a huge difference in both audio and video quality specially that it was paired with a HD tv and 6.1 home cinema sound system.. but i'd like to get the PS3 since i mainly (only most of the time... :D ) play GT2 GT3. my cousin has the Wii and its fun and all that but i think its a lot better as a family oriented gaming unit.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, pick a console that YOU are going to be happy with... Look at what games that you like (more importantly what games are PS3 or XBOX 360 exclusives). One more thing... We have all been waiting for "Colin McRae's Dirt" racing game and it surley will be a great game, but don't forget to visit his website http://www.colinmcrae.com/ and post your condolences for his family. He and his son died in a helicopter crash 9/16/07 RIP hope the rallysport tracks in heaven are x-tra dirty...

"Regarding yesterday’s helicopter crash at Jerviswood, Lanark, it has now been confirmed that there were four people, two adults and two young children on board.

Although a post mortem has still to take place, the four involved are believed to be:

Mr Colin McRae (39) of Jerviswood House and his son Johnny Gavin McRae, aged 5.

Ben Porcelli (6), of Cleghorn Road, Lanark, who had been over playing with Johnny, and family friend Graeme Duncan (37), of L’Ile Degaillot, Faycelles, France."

Alright i am finally gonna get a PS3 soon. Unsure if i should get the 40 or 80 gig ones. Looks like the major difference between them is the 80 gig has 2 extra USB ports, backward compatiblity, and memory card slots. Are those huge additions. Let me know what you all think?
