So I bought a new couch and while moving the old ones out, the wood and "brass" got scratched. What is the easiest/quickest way to make it look ok again? I have a lady coming to check them out tomorrow night.
The wood shouldn't be that hard really, but the brass coated metal is what I'm not sure what to do with. Any suggestions?

brass spray paint and use a brush or q-tip to paint it on?

is it really brass, or just plastic? I'd say go to Michael's and get a paint marker that color and go for it.
for the wood, just use some scratch stuff for wood.

Thanks for the replies guys.
It's metal with a brass "plating". These couches made it 23 years free of damage and the day my buddy and I move them to sell, one get's damaged.
Yeah, the wood I'm not too worried about, I can fix that easy. For the metal, I was thinking of just trying a yellow marker. :D
Anyone else?

Alternative: take a file/sandpaper and scuff up the rest of the metal trim to keep things uniform <- ahah

I would do that IZ, but there is a matching love seat and chair. I'm too lazy to do that much work. :p: Thanks though.

Read the post by Stewart Schooley about halfway through the thread

Try a buffing paste of baking soda and toothpaste--

Well it's done already. I found some Johnsons Paste Wax, (which looked like it might be older than me) that worked perfectly on the wood.
For the metal (I think it's aluminum) I just used one of my yellow art marker and rubbed it in. It worked good enough. I'm selling all 3 pieces for $250 so I'll just take less if she says anything.
dman, you're right, but they're even older than that. 83-84 ish. :D These were the couches in the "don't even walk through that room" room. They got sat on maybe 4 times a year for family holiday crap.
Thanks for the suggestions.

When I saw the pictures of those couches, I thought that if you had a golden lab, the dog would probably disapear if it sat on it.

I used to get in trouble walking through it, but it's so much faster to get to the garage that way from the kitchen. :)

It's impossible to keep a couch in that kind of condition with kids (unless they are covered in plastic slip covers like my Grandparents had on their couch, and arm chair).
