I have a '98 exp. V8 AWD with 3.73 gears. i'm looking for new tires for my stock 15" rims, and am concidering a set of michelin ltx at's. Now, will the size of these tires cause problems with my transfer case and transmission? Will the spedo be off? Can I have my computer re-programed for the 31's? Will the 31 X 10.5 X 15 fit on my stock rims ( I think they're 15X7 ) please someone help. thanx in advance. I'm new here. I'm looking foward to sharing all of my future mod's with you all. again, thanx

My wife's 98 XLT SOHC 4x4 w/3.73 LS works just fine with 31x10.5's on the factory 15x7 rims.

There is very minor rubbing under full (I mean FULL) compression on the rear inner fenderwells, but you'll never see it without abusing it offroad. Without a low range, I doubt it's an issue.

The factory 235's (recalled version) came off in March (before the recall, but after the problem was identified) and we've had no problems since.

Depending on whether you had 235's or 255's from the factory, the speedo may be off a little (<5%) or barely at all (<1%). In either case, you can have it adjusted or ignore it.

Hope this helps. Michelin makes the best tires out there, that's a great upgrade for your truck.

Best,
Brian in CA

thanks brian, that does help. I'll be buying those tires this week to replace my recalled 235's.

Tony,
31's on your 15X7 rims with 3.73's will work just fine. I ran 31's on sotck rims without the torsion bar twist for a while, and didn't have any problems. Oh and Welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us do. :)
