I was wondering if anyone can straighten out my question about bulbs, wattage and such....

About 2 months ago, I replaced the stock headlight bulbs with Xenon 100/80W bulbs! What a difference it makes!!! Of course it is a higher wattage bulb. The original stock bulb is 65/55W - VERY DIM!!!!!

I am a little concern because reading some posted messages, and it seems that some people have problems with the wiring harnesses melting because it is too hot....

IS is safe to continue to run the Xenon bulbs? And what would you say is a safe wattage bulb to install without blowing anything?! Thanks in advance.

Pull the lights out. They are too bright. Send them to me & I'll dispose of them for you.
If you don't want to do that just take a look at the contacts where you plug in the bulbs to the harness. If they don't appear deformed or burned you probably wont have any trouble. After two months I would think any problem
would have showed up by now.
I'm no expert but I too have had high wattage bulbs in for at least 9 months abd have had no problems.
As to how much is too much??? You just gotta try it & see....

Watch it as you can get a ticket for lights that are too bright. I think for the Explorer, the highest legal wattage is 85/55.
