View Full Version : Whoops! gijoecam 10-06-2000, 12:56 PM Real simple... need more Whoops! Learn by example. :-) EB Bauer 10-06-2000, 01:08 PM Here are a few. Not explorers but the example is still the same. Don't do what these people have done. http://www.truckworld.com/Stuck-Of-The-Month/stuck-trucks.html mattadams 10-06-2000, 01:25 PM ROFL, those are hilarious!! I especially like the picture of that fully submerged Chevy... absolutely hilarious! EB Bauer 10-06-2000, 01:27 PM Something about that tells me I need to get my Explorer really stuck in the mud. maybe up to the windows. They giveing away superwinches. Not the best but may be worth it? mattadams 10-06-2000, 01:28 PM well that depends, is several thousand dollars worth of potential damage worth a $750 winch? :) EB Bauer 10-06-2000, 01:32 PM Very true. Maybe I could find a big mud hill and drive behind it then take the pic froma distance. slop a bit of mud up on the side. Make it look like I was in deep. Not that I would do it but it would be fun to try. Ahh who am I kidding. I would prolly get stuck jsut attempting it. Besides I haven't seen mud that nice in years. To dang dry down here. leebo 10-06-2000, 01:58 PM thats 750+having your Explorer shown as a tried and true 4x4....sure it's stuck but who wouldn't be stuck driving into a volcano right after eruption??? I think it's worth it. Goober 10-06-2000, 02:45 PM found this while looking through the site. http://www.truckworld.com/4x4-OffRoad/96SixPakFord/1c4sixpak6.gif During a photo shoot going over some dunes, even this monster 6 WD got stuck! I wonder if she's an option package? EB Bauer 10-06-2000, 02:50 PM the http://www.truckworld.com is a great site. I would love to try and tackle some of those trials they have in the adventure section. I belive the guy listed a price in the post but I am not sure about it.....I do know that Ford did win a ton of shows...I saw it once, the pic does not even come close to do it justice. mattadams 10-06-2000, 02:57 PM I remember a while back at a car show here in Denver there was this group of TOTAL hotties in very attractive swimsuits walking around... and for a "fee" they would pose by your vehicle and let you take pictures of the vehicles with basically playboy bunnies modeling next to it... I think they'd also take their picture with you for the same "fee". Dang, I wish I was hot and could charge people to take my picture, LOL. Brett 10-12-2000, 10:54 PM Matt, You couldn't PAY anyone to take your picture! :D mattadams 10-12-2000, 11:04 PM ouch! Brian1 10-12-2000, 11:21 PM I like the stuck where the Jeep was sideways almost submerjed(sp?) in water. That is funny. Scott, there is plenty of mud now because of the rain. Just today in town I saw a truck stuck in some mud. It had to be "chained" out by a backhoe. Hey, we can go in a few weeks and I will be glad to pull you out! :) I found an Explorer stuck on one of the stuck pages. Explorer Stuck (http://www.truckworld.com/Stuck-Of-The-Month/stuck-trucks98.html) It is at the bottom. [Edited by Brian1 on 10-12-2000 at 08:27 PM] leebo 10-25-2000, 07:21 PM well I did it. Give me a hand. While at work today I was outside working on an old piece of crud forklift right next to some very soft sand....what do I do....drive the lift off the pavement right into the sand. :) All I see is the tires spinning and sand flying. I GOT THE FORKLIFT STUCK How many people can say that one??? I tried it one more time and then realized I was down in the sand about 6 inches. What do I do.....get my tow strap and my explorer...and out comes the forklift. I love my explorer. Not only can it take me to work, but it also can save my a@@ at work. I was shocked that it was able to pull a 15,000 pound lift out as easy than it did. To think...my boss never even knew. :) I wish I had photos. EB Bauer 10-26-2000, 10:32 AM Well, About two years ago I was working at a golf course and you know those big dozzers? The ones with the huge bucket in the front, the one that could fit an explorer. Well I was driveing around in that and haveing some fun. Well I have no idea what I did but I drove it into the pond. At the time the tires on this thing were taller than I was. The were under water. THe windows were about half way under the water. It was pretty bad. That was my first job, sad to say it didn't really work out after that. After that I somehow got a gold cart going fast enough to roll it into a sand trap and got it stuck. Lets just put it this way....taht was the day I got fired, stopped drinking, and got a life. The good old days were fun, I wish I could act like a kid with out responsibility sometimes. mattadams 10-26-2000, 10:51 AM I've told my best stuck story many times, but to those that have never attended the events, etc. I've got a good one... Situation: first time four-wheeling ever. Age: 16 Vehicle: 92 F-150 4x4 with nearly bald tires, two sandbags in the back, no shovel Other people in the vehicle: my first date with a 15-year old named Holly. No driving experience, first time she'd ever met me. On to the story! Meet this girl on AOL (I know, dorky place to meet girls, LOL). She lives in COlorado Springs (about two hours from me but hey shes cute so its worth it right?). I pick her up, say "what would you like to do?" she says "Well, rampart range road is right above town and you have 4wd... lets go check it out!" Too stupid too mention that its my first time ever even engaging four-wheel drive much less taking it off-road, I say "sure I go wheeling all the time!" LOL. So we're driving... starts off plenty dry... we climb in altitude, keeps getting snowier and snowier.. we get stuck... I am trying to teach her how to drive a stick so she can gas it while Im pushing it. NO luck. Finally I use my sandbag idea to put some sand under the tires, it works we keep going. Trail is a bit too narrow to turn around and I keep thinking (not saying of course!) "geez I wish we could turn around, I'm not comfortable with this snow" then all of a sudden, get stuck again. Someone in a bronco II comes along with a shovel, helps dig a bitable to get out and keep going. Driving along, snow getting deeper and deeper but I teach myself how to use low range, that helps a bit... finally, plop. Down we sink in to the snow. Try diggin it out with the one shovel, tie towing it out with the bronco II, nothing, it ain't moving. So what do I have to do? Get a ride back to town with the Bronco II (they actually knew how to wheel) and drop off Holly, and come back the next day in all of things my dad's friends Dodge Ram 2500 who by the way, had no problems whatsoever towing it out and not being a jerk about it either. Funny enough, we continued to date for another 6 months or so... almost a year off and on... we still laugh about it to this day, LOL. rpenner54 10-26-2000, 11:40 AM Matt that story cracks me up everytime I hear it still to this date. LOL Oh man.... mattadams 10-26-2000, 12:09 PM LOL when I was looking at vehicles, before I bought the Explorer, I went up to where she lived to look at a lifted Jeep that was for sale <gasp I know!>. Anyways she introduced me to her current boyfriend, she says "this is the guy that got us stuck on our first date!" LOL. We still get along though we're way past the dating stage... funny how you do something like that once and it lives with you the rest of your life. rpenner54 10-26-2000, 12:23 PM Yep that is true. I still tell people that I just slid off the trail and bashed up my truck. I don't really ever tell people the reason I started sliding off the trail. LOL Oh man... mattadams 10-26-2000, 12:27 PM Originally posted by rpenner54 Yep that is true. I still tell people that I just slid off the trail and bashed up my truck. Lol the reason was because my explorer was stock! :) But yeah, that's all part of learning how to four-wheel is screwing it up a few times, you just gotta make sure your screwups don't kill you! Sinjin 12-08-2000, 10:28 AM Bringing it to the top for others to see. gijoecam 12-14-2000, 02:17 AM Good Idea setting up this whoops forum... where did you come up with the idea? :-) -Joe- CBoug76 12-14-2000, 10:01 AM The Idea has been bouncing around for about 6 months or so. Jaytee 12-14-2000, 07:02 PM I love this new forum rick! Should of had it earlier! Its one of the first things I check. Its funny for some strange reason to see other peoples mishaps! Sorry. Hopefully I'll never have a whoops story to tell! Jaytee 95ExplorerLtd 01-06-2001, 12:00 AM You should have seen the time I backed over the stepladder :D What was even more funny was watching me trying to fix the ladder! I think mom threw it away because she claimed it was "hazardous".... Maniak 01-10-2001, 02:11 PM Here one of my whoops (my first one in one of my vehicles) The van is 2 wheel drive with a rear locker and 30" tires. The drop was steeper than I thought. I was bottomed out from the tranny cross member to the rear axle.. 10 minutes of digging (didn't do much) and then we hooked up a strap and had someone pull me out.. Here's a picture of it "not" getting stuck.. it will hold its own as long as I don't bottom out or knock it over (almost did that a few times).. Stuck http://mark.legendz.com/4x3/stuck2.jpg Climbing a Near Vert step.. got up no prob http://mark.legendz.com/4x3/off-road1.jpg Here's the links to the video of have of almost falling over (again).. http://mark.legendz.com/avi/off-roadvan-5.ram http://mark.legendz.com/avi/ioff-road5.avi |
