Currently, I am flushing my radiator. I am the 2nd owner of this Ex. The first owner hadn't changed it in a while. The color of the old coolant is brown and has that burnt smell. Not the sweet smell. I am doing a complete flush. The reservoir still has a lot of this brown colored fluid in it. How should I approach getting this out? I know I could stick the hose in it and let it run for 5 minutes and eventually most of it would come pouring out. But doing that would send antifreeze all over my engine and down the driveway  . Is there any other way besides disconnecting the reservoir?

None that I am aware of.

That's about what you need to do.

Disconnect the reservoir at the rad, pull the hose so it drops to a container on ground, and let gravity take its course. You can help it by filling the reservior and letting it leak out the hose.

When I run the flush through, I will need to start the truck. Will this push the extra fluid out of the reservoir?

What do you mean by "rad"?

Drained. Much easier than I expected and much less hassle than letting it flow over the top. Thanks for the help. Now I get to burn money by allowing it to sit in the driveway and run.

Sometimes the most simple solution is the bset.
