I have a question that I hope can be answered without having to do a lot of searching.

I have a 1995 Explorer 4 door, 4x4. I want to get some black steel rims. I have 16inch tear drop ford wheels on there now. I want to get 16inch rims so that I won't have to buy new tires. What is the bolt pattern (5 x 4.5 I think)?
What is the backspacing and offset that is needed so that there is no rub? What is the largest tire that you can run with a rim that size? Anything that I am missing.

Any help would be appreciated. I have no clue when it comes to tires. Thanks in advance.

I think you can go as big as 40"s but most off road guys go up to 37's and 35's. And form what i've read a 3.75 backspacing and a 16x8 wheel is fine. Depending on the width of the tire you may have to do a bit of inner fender trim.

If I am wrong or missed something someone will fill you in a little better.

I forgot to add that I am running 235X70R16's at the moment. I would like to order the rims from Summitt. I just need to make sure I am ordering the correct ones. Thanks for the help.

The largest tire you can run, with no lift would be 31's. You might have minor rubbing with them. Check the link in my signature for lift & max tire size info.

Im not sure if they are 32's or 33's but I run 285.75.16's on my stock 16" rims with no lift and i only rub when turning hard left or going fast over railroad tracks that are rough. I have no lift yet, still hunting for some shackles.

Actually, I should mention they rub quit a bit while on trails and cleaning mud off the ground.
