Has anyone experimented with using dfferent electrolyte for HHO generators?

All I've tried so far is Lye (potash, caustic soda, etc) and it makes H great, but gets hot and leaves rusty residue. Will try less on this run and try for better results. Also tried Baking soda which just doesn't yeild enough, then again, I'll try to add more on the next run. Please let me know what you've tried so far

Al I have tried calcium carbonate, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide. I found that the potassium hydroxide worked best as far as concentrations required and residual contamination.

Since then I have used a higher voltage to overcome the need for an electrolyte.

I haven't tried and don't have a HHO generator but what about Borax? Also know as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate.
