What is the deal with "Marvel's Mystery Oil"? Does this stuff actually help your vehicle? The packaging is very intriguing. Will it hurt anything by using the fuel or oil additive?
Thanks

I've used it a few times.. First was on an Izuzu I-mark with 80k miles on it using the FACTORY OIL.. NEVER had an Oil change.. It was overheating and siezing the motor (to the point where it took 24 volts to turn over the starter).. BTW.. This wasn't my car.. I was helping fix someones car.
We put in ALOT of the Marvel Mystery oil.. and it definately broke up all the oil deposits.. We still had to use a screwdriver to break open some of the oil passages on the head but it did work.
I've also used it on my Motorcycle when I had it sitting too long and got the carbs gummed up. I put in some mystery oil in the carb and in < 1/2 tank the carbs were cleaned up.
From what I can tell it is just a detergent.. and using ATF is supposed to do the same thing (only it isn't quite as concentrated as the mystery oil)..

Yup ATF. I think that is exactly what it is. If not, it does pretty much the same thing. I used ATF type F, it provided a smoother running engine in about 1/2 a tank.
I've used it in my Explorer. Worked pretty good. Just don't use it too frequently! At most, once an oil change. I haven't used it in the oil though, just in the gas tank. My dads friend swears by the stuff, uses it in all his snowmobiles. They all run great. It acts just like a fuel system/injector cleaner. Gets rid of the carbon buildup. Like I said worked pretty good for me.

Hytack is even better if you want to keep a motor running. Used it in my F250 with 275,000 miles on a 5.0. It had a rod knock so load you could hear it down the end of the street. I little hytack at oil changes totally hid it.

Half a quart or so should do it. I put the entire bottle in my oil though. Just make sure it is close to when you are going to be changing your oil anyway.
