Ah, the sweet smell of progress. Our part of the county just had public sewer ran to it. Welcome to the 21st Century :D With the zoning laws the way they are, we are forced to hook-up to it. The county may let you get by for a few years then if you've still not done it. In comes who ever they want to come in dig all the trenches, crush and fill the old septic tank and what ever else they need to get it done. Even if you don't get it hook-up for a few years and use your own septic, you still have to pay the fees:thumbdwn:

The main lines are run along the State rd. It's up to us to connect.

Now to get some grass seed.
Oh well, there went my Bronco 2 improvements for awhile. She'll just have to set in the garage a little longer and pout :D

Wow, I can appreciate that.

The sewer lines are still about 8 miles from us. It's gonna be a looong time before the sewer gets out here, if ever.

From what I remember sewer lines don't have to be as deep as a water supply line. You really just need them deep enough to protect from harm. Freezing isn't quite as big of a concern.

Edit: That made me remember about the water mains they got around here. I've seen the main lines at around a 16-18 inches below ground level  Our freeze line is at about 24 inches.

I did not measure it but the contractor that put it in has done many of them around here. It has to pass before they can cover it up. It's hard to tell from the pic because it's looking straight down. I think it was around 2 feet deep. The guy standing is actually standing on top of the blue stone gravel that is dumped on top of the pipe. Then his knees are about level with the surface. If you look at the bottom of pic you can see that it is about 2 feet deep.
A big plus was that the yard sloped down to the connection.

Just noticed: If you look about 15' in front of that guy standing, there is a cleanout cap. This is on a vertical piece. The black cap is flush with ground. So that can also give you some reference as to depth.

Gawd knows when we will go on public sewers. We're many miles from the lines right now. All of our development is on sand mounds and private water supply.

Ok. I know that universal code for water line is 18" and I was thinking that sewer was 3-4' and could not be in the same ditch as elec or water.

That cleanout cap will be a wonderful tool in about 10 years when that tree's roots grow into the line.
