my truck wouldnt start this morning (it was about 20 degrees) so i started thinking that since i am running my amp and some lights that this is kiling my battery because if i haev everything going my lights still flicker but its not that bad. i haev read some posts here about dual battery set-ups. what exactly would dual batteries do for me. how could i wire them? i figure i could mount one someplace if i got long enough cables. i know a few of you have this wired up on your trucks. any ideas would be appreciated. thanks

dual batteries is more of a safety feature that anything for most of us. It sound like to me you don't need another battery, you need a bigger aoternator. Another battery is just more juice storage, not more juice. It would of helped you out this morning though when you battery was dead....you could of just switched over to the other battery and started it up. That leads to the best way to wire them. In my opinion, the best way to do this is with a large three way switch...giving you three options. The first, two batteries ran in paralell (this is great for using all those accessories when the truck isn't running.) Second and third, you could run either battery all by itself. That way there would always be one in reserve. Hope this helps you out a little. Just make sure you run these in paralell vice sseries.
