You an offroader or more into the street truck aspect? Riddle_Rob 10-25-2008, 06:49 PM My ranger is my street truck. It's currently lowered 6" in the front, 5" in the rear on an Explorer 8.8" lsd disc brake rear end. Has racing seats, rollpan, billet grille, headlights, tails etc etc etc list goes on. Currently building a 2.3L turbo for it. Needed a winter beater so I opted for the Explorer :) Just picked it up today at the Tri City Auctions mwhahaha. I plan on picking it up on monday, have it on the road by wednesday with 31's if all goes to plan. I'm trying to find the Infamous "War-153" shackles atm in Canada, preferably locally. Know anywhere? LOL Cozmik 10-28-2008, 01:26 PM I made my shckles. They are a bit beefier and bigger than the War153's. I also have the 4 door leaf packs and AAL done to it. Trying to sell it or part it out as I don't want to scrap good parts. martin123 10-28-2008, 10:11 PM Hello Markham, Ontario. Just using the X for camping, pulling the boat and trailer. Would like to try off roading. Riddle_Rob 10-29-2008, 12:39 AM Cozmik - I have plans to make the shackles now as well. My friend is taking a metal fabricator course of some sort at conestoga and wants to make them for me. I just need to grab the supplies :) Hi Martin. I'm actually trying to find some people to go wheelin' with once I get the issues sorted out on my beater. martin123 10-29-2008, 12:01 PM I am only stock right now. Would it handle the trails? Cozmik 10-29-2008, 12:36 PM I am only stock right now. Would it handle the trails? It will handle some off roading. How much depends on your truck. Do you know what gearing you have? Also whether you have an open rear diff or a limited slip? fordnut71 10-29-2008, 11:28 PM hey didnt know this thread was here. im in woodbridge.i have a 94 sport an been dying to get offroad on a trail ride with some other people. hey rob if you wanted to see shackles, u needed to see the 1s on mine . i made up my own set cost me $20. Only thing Ive done so far is put 31's on her. Everything else is stock for now. Haven't noticed anyone else from Steeltown:exp:. johnny23toronto 01-08-2009, 08:01 AM I'm from Toronto. I love this website. Use it weekly if not more often. A meet could be fun, maybe mix it with some other bigger venue. I've been farting around with piecing together a remote turbo setup similar to l8psiExplorer's and some other peoples too. There is a lot to learn from this website, lots of bright people here too. PM me if anyone has any parts of interest (injectors, etc). bcmcm 01-10-2009, 04:30 PM I am in Burlington with a stock 2003 Limited. Cozmik 01-10-2009, 06:04 PM Glad to see this thread is still alive. Nice to hear from you guys, and I think setting up a meet in the spring would be a cool idea. Hanover Ontario 01-10-2009, 08:17 PM Hi, I am from Hanover, Ontario about Hr from KW Just got first Explorer, 97 XL 4X4 Love it and happy to find Canada Representing on here. Robb Cozmik 01-10-2009, 09:05 PM Welcome Robb!! Had enough snow yet??? Hanover Ontario 01-10-2009, 09:42 PM Thanks for the welcome, It snowed like crazy the week before I got my explorer with schools cancelled etc but not much since.... hopefully some good snow soon. Truck just has some BFGoodrich Radial Long Trail T/A tires on it but hopefully it will be ok in the snow. It is the control trac so I will have to see how that works out Robb 02 Exploder 01-14-2009, 09:04 AM Just saying hello from Hamilton:thumbsup: Cozmik 01-14-2009, 12:18 PM How are things in Hammertown these days? 02 Exploder 01-14-2009, 12:20 PM good a little cold today tho Cozmik 01-14-2009, 02:10 PM You up on the mountain or down below? 02 Exploder 01-14-2009, 05:07 PM Lower East end close to the QEW heavyRfoot 01-30-2009, 07:18 PM is anyone interested in setting up a run for all the South Ontario members in the spring? i still haven't been out with the X i i don't want to go by myself in case i get stuck. and i dont know any other places other then the one by fairview mall in Kitchener. Cozmik 01-31-2009, 10:53 AM I will check into the area off of Greenhouse Rd, see if its still closed or not. There are places in the Brampton area that I've heard are open to trucks as well. Riddle_Rob 01-31-2009, 02:26 PM Greenhouse Rd is "Seagrams". They have many many many no trespassing signs up now and if the people at the Greenhouse see you drivin back there they will call the cops. There are many other entrances to that place though. fordnut71 01-31-2009, 03:36 PM the place by the coke plant in brampton has been closed for a few years an if your caught in there its a $2000 fine. reason is its a reforesty area cause of construction done in there. also cop do sit in there waiting on weekends waiting for people to go in there. flamingX 02-11-2009, 12:29 PM I'm trying to round up particapants for a cruise in the London K/W area along the Lake Erie shoreline sometime in the late spring or early fall. Sorry no trail runs in the works for Southwestern Ont. yet (don't know of any trails), But a friend of mine at Ontario Ranger Based Vehicle Owners is trying to organize one at the Black & Decker Trails in Brockville (East of Kingston) if anyone is willing to make the trip. Layinhp 02-12-2009, 01:05 PM gopher dunes in courtland normally has a few poker runs throughout the year for trucks and other days atv's the mudruns are fun both open pits that they tow you out if you get stuck and they have bush trails thats enter at own risk meaning you get stuck and no one elps tow you out they go in at end of day thats it but theres normaly plenty of trucks to try and pull you out Riddle_Rob 02-12-2009, 10:13 PM Gopher dunes is P I M P. I live 10 mins from it. Their first run is Good Friday in April. Should be sweet this year since I can actually enter hahaha. flamingX 02-13-2009, 10:41 AM I found this year's schedule for the truck events http://www.gopherdunes.com/Mudfest.html I prefer things low 'n slow (or goin' fast in a straight line), but I'll probibly go to watch. I am thinking my next truck is going to be a "jacked" 4 by. it looks like alot of fun. Layinhp 02-13-2009, 12:50 PM if you go alot of actions in the bush trails wear some crappy shoe`s or boots it may look dry till your up to your knee in muck lol fordnut71 02-13-2009, 01:11 PM so is there trails in there for a stock explorer? Layinhp 02-13-2009, 01:46 PM yes and no, stock as in how stock... you can do the bushruns early in the day but after they get chewed up then it gets pretty tricky, they have open pits that surround there dirt bike track that even stockers can make it through again though the later the day the worse they get they normaly have cheater lanes around all the pits so if they get to bad or to backed up with trucks you can move on to aother pit and these pits they provide a tow out by tractor (or other 4x4) fordnut71 02-13-2009, 02:38 PM bone stock 94 ex with 4.0l an a4ld an a 28" tire 3.27 gear with no lift. you know the city driven explorers lol Riddle_Rob 02-13-2009, 03:37 PM It's possible Mark. I've seen worse go thru. Every year lil side kicks and sammi's always amaze me with their capabilities pretty much stock with tires. The pits are generally quite wide as well so there tends to end up being some deep parts and some ok parts if the big boys play nicely. fordnut71 02-13-2009, 07:14 PM well then rob we have to get the explorers out there then. Riddle_Rob 02-13-2009, 07:46 PM I plan on it. But, I'm hoping to have a snorkle and bigger tires before then hahaha. abbott92 03-25-2009, 05:01 PM Hey, Hello from Binbrook!! (like 5 minutes from Hamilton). I am also another young one (16) and my X is my first car! It's a 1993 4Dr 4x4 XLT. I`m planning on a 5.5 inch lift, flowmaster 50 series, a KKM air intake and a killer stereo! I`m glad i found this, I was wondering if there was anybody around here that`s on this site. Jester966 04-03-2009, 12:30 AM I'm also in Kitchener. I'm a brand new (2 weeks now) owner of an '04 4.6L XLT. I've never been offroading and my truck is completely stock, but I'd be very interested if anything is organized... just so long as long as you don't mind pulling this newbie out of the muck once in a while! fordnut71 04-03-2009, 12:53 AM well welcome to the explorer club. head over to ontario ranger based vehicles. we are having a meet an greet. http://ontario-rbv.com/ flamingX 04-03-2009, 06:11 AM Ya, what he said. We have a Meet'n'Greet coming up on May 9 in London. Sorry no Trailruns yet for Southwestern Ont. (I can't find any open Trails around here, so if anybody knows of any, PLEASE let us know) Cozmik 07-11-2009, 12:01 PM Trying to find open trails around here is a real challenge. A couple friends keep heading east to the Ottawa area for weekend excursions. I've heard there are a few areas north of Elmira that may be usable. I'll post where exactly when I find out. flamingX 07-11-2009, 01:01 PM Here's a link to a place near London (Tillsonburg acually)http://www.gopherdunes.com/www.gopherdunes.com/Mudfest.html They only open their trails to trucks 3 days a year klze 10-29-2009, 03:03 PM Hello everyone! I'm in Toronto,Ontario area... Have a question: what would be the best ford dealership(s) in ontario for Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) work to be done?? i know some dealers are a lot better than others, I would like to sort them out and figure out the best of the best... thank you guys! flamingX 10-30-2009, 06:27 AM Have a question: what would be the best ford dealership(s) in ontario for Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) work to be done?? Well, in the London area amongst the Dealers I've dealt with, I've had nothing but headaches with Mt.Bridges Ford and Courtesy Ford. But have had excellent service at St.Thomas Ford, as well, my Dad swears by Macnab Ford in Ingersoll. klze 10-30-2009, 01:27 PM thanks! anyone knows anything closer to Toronto area? 4xlimited 01-03-2010, 09:39 PM Yo to all southern ontario owners, I'm from Orilliia an hour north of T.O. Picked up a 94 ex limited for $100 and drove it home! Replaced the mass air sensor, repaired a rear brake line, rear axle seals, then bad luck (stupidity on my part) happened. My good jack broke, so I tried the jack from my wifes cavy, like I said STUPID and in too much of a hurry, now have a broken wrist and part of my hand. Yep the truck was cumin' down and didn't quite get out of the way. No I promise I won't work on any body's trucks. corkey 01-03-2010, 10:14 PM hmmm, not in Southern Ontario hello gents, Nate_V8 01-07-2010, 12:13 AM I'm in peterborough! I have a 97 5.0 Limited AWD (crappy willow green lol looks like mint booger) Been looking into trying to figure out why my explorer which used to have ARC (orginal owner removed it) is 2" lower then normal explorers (yes it has the stock tire size). Looking into shackles, F-150 coil lifters, add a leaf, TT and 32" BFG A/T so I don;t get stuck anymore with my crappy kelly safari SJR's!!!! possibly a 3" BL.... I have custom dual side exhaust, removed rear cats, installed an H-pipe and ran a magnaflow 5" diameter 14" long muffler on each side and dumped them in front of the rear tires between the tire and runnng board. Getting TMH once I find a used set and then a tune from henson and better RRs. Once somebody figures out how to get a mark 8 E-fan working in the 5.0 I'll be getting that too lol. stiffy44 01-07-2010, 01:46 AM Hello guys from Dresden ont inbetween Sarnia and Windsor........2003 Centennial-Edition black. Like Mr Ford said i'll make you a car and as long as it's painted black..... |
