Will a 94 Aerostar transmission interchange with a '96 Ranger trans, both being 3.0? If not, what else interchanges with a '96 3.0 trans?

nope: 94 is an A4LD, only electronics are TCC and OD...96 is a 4R44E with electonic shift solenoids 1,2,3,4, plus TCC. the computers are not compatible and would be a PITA to rewire.

unless I'm wrong, 4R44E's from 95 up will work. the 97 up trannys have an extra sensor that you don't need. you might need to swap your shift selector from your 96 to use the 97 and up tranny.

the only direct replacement would be a tranny from a 95 or 96 model with a 3.0 engine.

hope I was some help....at least you have more info to confuse the matter...lol

The 95 Aerostar has an A4LD.

Thanks! Looks like my only options are a '96 Aerostar or a '95/'96 Ranger...

Stepping back a minute, I could possibly use a '99 or '00 from behind a 3.0 as long as I change the shift selector from the '96, correct?
