if the compressor was takin off because the motor was replaced but the accumulator wasnt affected would I even have to add more pag oil ?would I be good just recharging the134a?

Are you talking about the oil needed in the lines to keep the compressor lubricated?

If I recall correctly, lots of R134A recharge kits actually have oil in the refrigerant. I know when we did my friends A/C we just bought a recharge can kit from walmart and a half hour later we were ice cold.

Might want to have it done though, if they took it off and didn't vacuum it down, it might need to be vacuumed down.

I think your saying the engine was replaced and the a/c lines disconnected during the process, but none of the a/c parts were replaced.. If that is the case just vacuum down the system and charge it.. You don't need to add more oil.

If you replaced the compressor or receiver/dryer/accumulator then you would need to add oil again..

well I charged it with alittle oil and the 134a it blows cold everything checks out except my motor has had am idle problem since its been installed but once it corrects its self it usually good but as soon as I turn the ac or the heat on it starts idling real high then drops as the compressor cycles any suggestions. Thanks for the help by by the way.

Technically the accumulator is supposed to be replaced every time the system is opened.

I heard similar.. but I've always been told if opened for an extended period (like a week or so)..

I was recently told if we open the system, tape it closed, install the motor and then open/evacuated the system for a couple hours that everything would be fine as the amount of moisture that would get into the system that fast wouldn't be an issue.

That was from a local mechanic friend.. (He used to do my a/c work before I got gauges and an evactuator).
