View Full Version : new pics of 2wd w/ 35's
Trckmagik 01-06-2001, 03:19 PM Make sure you look at all the pages! Pictures are being added daily! Here are some quick pictures I took of my 1992 2wd Explorer with 10 inches of lift and 35" BFG Mudders. I have a 6 inch Skyjacker Suspension lift, 1.5" Warrior Shackle Lift, 1.5" F-150 Coil Spacers, and 3" Body lift for a total of 10"s. I also installed a Powertrax locker in the rear with 4:10 Gearing. Better photos to come. More photos on other pages of this thread.

And here is one that I took next to a Honda Civic just to show you how much taller it is. I will have some action photos soon to come.

RichSport94 01-06-2001, 03:21 PM Looks awesome! I wonder if you could run over that Civic? Quick question where did you get the rear diffy cover and how much?
Trckmagik 01-06-2001, 03:28 PM I got it from my local 4x4 shop here in Dallas, Texas. I think I paid somewhere around 50.00 for it. It adds a nice touch to the rear though. Looks good in between the warrior shackles.
Kris Guilbeaux 01-06-2001, 04:30 PM Looking good, And to think that Explorer was lowered at one time. Now you just need to do the 4x4 convertion on it and you will be set.
-=DaemoN=- 01-06-2001, 04:37 PM I think he can go over that civic :D. Looks GREAT man!
By the looks of it, he can apparently fit a wheelchair underneath it!
offroader_69_me 01-06-2001, 05:25 PM looks great!! How do you like the 6" skyjacker?? Thats the one I am looking at and would love to hear your comments on it!
Trckmagik 01-06-2001, 06:57 PM Offroad. I love the 6" Skyjacker. I have the 5.5 Superlift on my ranger and am so much happier w/ the quality of the Skyjacker. Now I have had my Superlift installed on the Ranger for 5 years now w/ no problems, but that truck basically sits in storage 11 months out of the year so I wouldnt expect it to have problems. Anyways, go with the Skyjacker, you will not be let down.
By the way, I think I can crawl up on the civic in the picture. I am going to a local junk yard soon to do some car crawling. I am going to slip them thirty bucks to let me find a vehicle to crawl up on. Hopefully I wont roll :) Thanks for all the comments so far.
And Kris, About the truck being lowered at one time is pretty funny. Its been exactly a year since I was scrapping pavement in it. It used to be so low I couldnt even go over speedbumps. Crazy huh?
95ExplorerLtd 01-06-2001, 07:10 PM Lowered huh? Got any pics of that? I'm sure they'd be interesting. Looks great!
Trckmagik 01-06-2001, 07:14 PM Sorry Grant, I dont have any photos of it lowered. I could kick myself in the head 1,000 times for that to. The only thing I have is views of it lowered through a camcorder.
vbfreak2001 01-06-2001, 08:05 PM no way man! it used to be lowered!! I could never see that thing lowered, but i bet it would look sweet though. I prefer the lifted one better though man, its a nice looking truck. Are you thinking about getting a conversion to 4x4? or maybe a fiberglass conversion to make it look newer? I'm thinking about doin the fiberglass conversion and then when i get like 3000 dollars i might convert it to a 4x4, but it depends on how many times i get stuck and if its worth it. Well cya later man
Trckmagik 01-06-2001, 08:17 PM I have thought about the comversion and the fiberglass many a times. If I convert it to 4x4 it will be witha solid axle up front. That money tree on my back porch is not producing as much money as I need to do everything to this truck. I will one day have a new fiberglass front end w/ a major custom paint job and mural on the tailgate, a 5.0 mustang engine swap, and 4x4 conversion w/ solid axle. I figure I need about 15,000.00 and I can get a little closer to being done w/ my beast.
Brian1 01-06-2001, 09:00 PM Nice looking 2x4. Best looking one I have ever seen. What does that sticker say on your back window? The one above explorer4x4.
95ExplorerLtd 01-06-2001, 09:35 PM How come you're parked in a handicapped spot? Pull a hamstring getting up in there or break a leg falling out of it? :D
TheMattDaddy 01-06-2001, 10:31 PM Boy howdy.. that is an awesome looking truck
vbfreak2001 01-07-2001, 12:00 AM hey trckmagik how wide are those tires you have on your explorer? they look like 12.5's or something. well later man
Trckmagik 01-07-2001, 02:12 AM The tires are 12.50 wide. I just parked in that spot to show you it next to the civic. The sticker above the web address says Trckmagik! I am still thinking of mods so keep the ideas coming. Thanks again for all your compliments! They help with my ideas.
95ExplorerLtd 01-07-2001, 12:06 PM Brian, I thought your dual exhaust originally came straight out the back, what made you send them out the sides? I think you pretty much went all out on that beast, I cant think of much else to do to it, course I'm not too creative...Get a big EXPLORER decal to put across the windshield.
vbfreak2001 01-07-2001, 12:45 PM well there is another way to get more of a lift if you want it, get an add-a-leaf package to get like 2 inches or something, I am gonna get that later after i get 5 inches then i am gonna try and find a 2" add-a-leaf package to get it 7 inches. It will make your ride more stiff but still there's more lift, but it looks really good right now anyways so I wouldn't worry bout the add-a-leaf unless you just really want it. well later dude
oh yeah and get some clears in the back like you have in the front, i think it will make it look way better, but its your choice, later
RobbieJ 01-07-2001, 02:48 PM Hey, How do 4.10's turn those 35's I just got a set of 4.10's and I'm ging to be getting 35's soon. Also does your rear lift consist of a spring over conversion? In those pictures it looks like the springs are still under the axle. Thanks Robbie
Trckmagik 01-07-2001, 07:36 PM VB I already have clears that I put on the rear every once in awhile. I moved the exhaust to its new location do to my smashing the old location while off-road. Here are some photos that I took today while testing the new lift. Oh yeah VB you cant add add-a-leafs to my 6 inch arched leaf springs. Just thought I would let you know. I have THE MOST lift that you can do without getting completely custom.

Trckmagik 01-07-2001, 09:22 PM Just to let you know I dont park in Handicapped spots ever. I just did that to show you the size.
Trckmagik 01-07-2001, 10:04 PM Thanks Gimp, I knew what you were saying. I will test it out more at the slabs outside of Austin soon.
4Wheelin 01-07-2001, 10:46 PM O MY GOD!!! The truck looks amazing!!
Trckmagik 01-07-2001, 10:55 PM Thanks 4Wheelin! Its coming along very nicely. More mods to come though. When will it end? Never........
JM Dookie 01-08-2001, 02:18 AM That is one of the best looking trucks I've seen. When are you thinking about getting a 4x4 conversion? Any more lift and you probably won't even need four wheel drive.
Trckmagik 01-08-2001, 11:26 AM Thanks JM! I will not do the 4x4 conversion for awhile. Lack of money and time. I really dont need it w/ the 35's and PowerTrax locker. This combo has gotten me through alot so far. I will do the 95 clip and paint job before the conversion. Much more to come.
Trckmagik 01-08-2001, 12:27 PM Here are a couple more photos from yesterday:

And here is a good one of the warrior shackles with the six inch skyjacker springs.

kubben 01-08-2001, 02:20 PM That is best looking truck by far that I have seen on this site. Just awesome Brian.
Trckmagik 01-08-2001, 02:29 PM Thanks alot Keith! We need to do a body lift on yours like Sinjin did. Great write up on the slabs run. Hopefully it wont rain anymore so I can give it a shot.
FROADER 01-08-2001, 10:07 PM Looks good, just curious though... why did you go so big (10" lift)?
Trckmagik 01-09-2001, 11:24 AM Fenderguy, Read the post you started on why people go so big and my answer is there. I just want one of the biggest and best looking explorers. It is 2wd so its mainly just for looks but can do some pretty mean stuff when I want it to.
RU MAN 01-09-2001, 10:02 PM Nice man. I have always liked the way a 2wd looks lifted, i think it's just the whole pre-runner look i guess. All you need now is a winch, and forget the 4x4.(but it does help)
Trckmagik 01-10-2001, 03:46 AM Thanks RU MAN! I like the look too! Thanks for the comps!
have you ever thought about that supercharger? It'd help power those 35's. By the way, could you tell us the specifics of your lift? What else did you do?
thanks
travis
Trckmagik 01-12-2001, 08:17 PM Paco, Here is a list of what I have done to achieve the 10.5 inches of lift and a couple other mods.
-6" Skyjacker Suspension Lift
-3" Body Lift
-1.5" Ford F-150 Coil Spacer
-1.5" Warrior Shackles
-Custom Paint w/ Racing Stripes
-35" BFG Mud Terrain Tires
-Yellow Top Optima Battery
-Radio Shack Cb
-Flowmaster Dual Exhaust
-American Racing Atlas Rims (soon to be swapped out)
-Chrome Diff. Cover
-4:10 Gearing
-Powertrax No-Slip Locker
-Jet Mass Air Flow Sensor
-KKM True Rev Air Filter
-Jet Performance Chip
-Surco Safari Rack w/ Light Tabs (pics coming)
-Splitfire Plugs
-Splitfire Plug Wires
There is you a start to work with! I think I got pretty much all of it so far. Hope this helps
vbfreak2001 01-13-2001, 01:58 AM hey dude, are you gonna sell those atlas rims? If so how much r u askin for em? thanks a lot man, later!
-eric
Trckmagik 01-13-2001, 04:03 AM I will not be selling the Atlas rims! I am changing them out for the ones on my ranger due to them being a better fit for the 35's. Sorry........ Look forward to the slabs run...
Hey brian, I noticed that you have coil spacers. Are these up front? And if they are upfront, could it be used with a 1998 explorer sport 2wd? I am looking for about 1.5 inches up front. If this could work it would be awsome.
thanks for your help
travis
P.S.
Truck Magic 2 is set to debut in August. Yours will be an inch taller, but i'm also going to have racing stripes. I have a red explorer and the stripes will be black or white, not sure yet. But if you don't want a red copy of yours go ahead and let me now and ill make mine a bit different. I am doing a light bar up top. But if you want a fraternal twin, Truck Magic 2 is coming in August. Now if i can just get Sinjin to do the body lift.... (i'd pay him handsomely).
Trckmagik 01-15-2001, 01:25 PM Paco (Turds) Good luck on what you decide to do. Do enough research and it will pull through.
tac0meat 01-27-2001, 10:30 PM man your truck looks awesome! i never realized a 2wd could look so good, kinda gives me new hope. my only thing is im in college(no money) and i have over 300k miles on original engine and tranny(gotta save up for new ones cause these aint gonna last me much longer). how much did the 6inch skyjacker cost you and did you install it or did you pay somebody else? if you paid somebody then how much more did that cost?
Gopher 01-29-2001, 05:01 PM Dont go Fabtech then....it cost $$$. Skyjacker kits seem to be around 1200 for the 6" i think. I've seen them start around 868 or somewhere in that ballpark. Look in the 4 wheel mags. They have the Explorer skyjacker kits in them. My install was 450 or 350. The kit was 2100, but its a little cheaper now that it has been out for while.
BislamJoe 07-20-2001, 04:00 PM So now you need fiberglass. What size tire do you think would fit with your lift plus 'glass? 37? 38? Sweet ride man. Now you need a Dana 44 and a V8.
Trckmagik 07-20-2001, 04:16 PM Yea! I am in the process of trying to get the Dana 44. Thanks for the compliments.
BoatsRcool 07-20-2001, 06:08 PM sweet ride man.
I keep hearing "why so much lift" in different stuff, especially fenderguy haha. But i see it in magazines too that the new in thing is to have the biggest tires with the least lift.
Personally, I just like the look of a lot of lift.
and if you tthink about it, a suspension lift DOES help ground clearence, just not under the axle. Your transfer case, and anything like that will be higher.
Positive Vibes 07-20-2001, 06:19 PM Cant access your photos. Bummer! It says Photos unavailable.
BislamJoe 07-20-2001, 08:15 PM how 'bout a springover in the rear with fiberglass... don't know how you could equal that lift in front... you could run like 44's man
AdamAce912 10-27-2001, 04:23 PM I have a 2WD '92 XLT and I am looking for a 3-4 inch front and a 2-3 inch rear suspension lift, any suggestions? by the way, would a 86-97 ranger suspension lift work on my explorer?
ExplorGM 11-03-2001, 06:12 PM Have any new photos? I just stumbled on this post in my search for MTR photos.
Thanks
Rick
