I recently picked up a home receiver by Sony from Circuit City's going out of business sale... it's amazing. But with this addition I have no more room where my TV and Xbox 360 and everything else is sitting and hooked up.

I've looked online and in local stores and can't find anything I really like. So I'm putting the word out, I want to see pictures of your home entertainment centers. If you can follow this format, it'd be much appreciated:

Picture at the top.
1. Did you build it yourself, or premade?
2. Cost? (Best estimate if need be)
3. Where you got it from?
4. Feature (doors, dvd holders, etc.)

I'm looking to install the receiver, xbox 360, ipod cradle stock, front left/front right/center speakers with subwoofer on floor, and also a drawer to store DVD's and Video games. I also want to install a PS3/Blue ray player in the Summer. Maybe a shelf as well...

Thanks guy, look forward to seeing the pics

thanks Tbars,

If I could build something like the very bottom picture I would. Except maybe wider and not as deep.

I've been doodling designs for one I'm building, and I'm closing in on the final design, I just want to see what everyone else is doing.

Ask and you shall receive... It's not all that fancy, but it does the job and is strong enough to hold some weight. Right now I've got my PS3, DVD/Surround Sound, and cable box on it and there is still plenty of room for more on it.

I believe that this is the one that I have...

Sorry I can't help you on where to find it, I bought it used off of a friend. I believe that he got it at Best Buy, but I'm not certain on that.

Walmart carries something like that! I've thought about getting that, cause I could make my TV "float" and look all badass.

I'm considering going with something like that premade, but I'm not positive yet.

If I remember I'll get a pic of mine soon. I've got the TV (32" flat panel) on the wall next to built in cabinet/shelves in the corner that were in the house when we moved in. It works well because we can swivel the TV back flat against the wall when we aren't using it, or swing it back out for a better viewing angle.

Just be careful with that mount, I repair alot of plasma & lcd tv's, I've seen 3 of those exact entertainment stands with the tv arm with physical cracks in the metal arm. Now on to my mine.. Samsung 61" DLP, Samsung DVD Recorder/Player with surround, Samsung Blu Ray player, and Fios box.

In case you guys wonder yes I am partial to Samsung since on my mom's side of the family is related to the founders of Samsung :D

We just use an equipment rack and then some decent looking bookshelfs to hold the dvds..

Take from the side of the room...

Better shot of the DVD's and rack...

Equipment + rack.. Its steel and wood.. the equipment weights well over 200lbs.

In case it matters.. Here is a pic more from the angle you would be at when watching (I'm standing behind the chairs).

We still aren't done in there.. the beam/post is finished (faux beam/post since there is a seam there and we keep breaking the drywall there). I still need to add lights to the room (have a single ceiling fan w/light).. I'm holding off on the light until we get the bigger TV (may be on hold now with the economy like it is)..

reason we keep breaking drywall..

Currently, we are only running 540 watts to the sub..

Da## it! I have three, but no camera available... One is a 6 1/2 foot tall mahogany (armwa, I don't know the spelling) that holds up to a 36" screen w/ a bottom drawer under the t.v. shelf designed to hold gaming equipment (I have none, but my son does in his room, so the xbox would fit fine along with any additional equipment) And it has two massive drawers to hold games, dvds, etc.. (ttiwwp, i know) :) The doors open and have a dual hinge so they fold all the way back to the sides of the armwa. Every furniture store sells these...

Maniak, when are you just going to drop the TV and go projector? You know you want to.

Maniak, when are you just going to drop the TV and go projector? You know you want to.

That is on the list of things to do.. But to do that I need to finish walling in the room to keep out the light from the kitchen..

The other issue is the ceiling fan. That fan runs quite a bit and will be in the way of a front projection unit. In "theory" we can offset the projection unit assuming the unit can fix the keystone affect but the spinning blades on the fan will probably still cause wierd light reflections..

Because of those issues we were thinking of just going to a 60 (can't afford 70") flat panel.

We have had the current RPTV for 8 years.. it will do 1080i but we currently don't use it for more than 480p but I'd really like to have picture quality that can match the sound quality we have..

Maniak you're cracking drywall with what looks like a 12" and 540 watts??

Don't let me bring the two 15"s and 2KW over. :thumbdwn:

Josh if you own you might think about something like this:

http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m330/kpt42/beachht.jpg?t=1234421235

The cable box, receiver and dvd player are in the closet under the stairs that runs the house. Its just to the right out of frame. Thats the eye for the IR repeater in the bottom of the center channel.

Thats what I set up at my parents house.

Here is my raggedy setup. The TV was free off craigslist, I can't afford a new one:

Its actually 2 DVC Dayton 12's.. we are only pushing 135 watts to each voice coil. The box is tuned to 18hz (ported) and I put on a subsonic filter which IIRC is set at 15hz (18 DB curve). I wish I could remember the specs, but the tube (box) is 2ft across and I believe 3 ft tall which means its about a 9.5 cu ft box.

We need to get an amp just for the sub. Currently we are using the spare 6 channel amp (only using 4 channels on it). I've been temped a couple times to pick up a 1000 watt Crown amp or a couple 500 watt amps (one amp per sub).

I like the flush mount look with the equipment hiding as we are now getting to the point of having too many led/displays when we have the equipment on.

Can't go wrong with Crown. It can be a pain to use pro gear with consumer equipment though if you didn't know. I have an ART Cleanbox in my setup to convert to XLR and match gain. I also have the cheater plug to lift the ground. I get a ground loop without it, most likely coming through the cable.

I need to get a bigger Crown. This one is rated 660x2 at 4 ohm but the clip lights will flash during explosions and stuff in movies. I just set the limiter on the crossover for now.

1. Premade- Avington collection
2. TV stand and bookcase were only about $300
3. Target...
4. Toshiba Regza 42", Onkyo receiver on bookcase, HTPC hidden in bookcase

Eventially, the TV is going on an articulating mount above the stand, and the speakers will be on the wall with all wires hidden in wall.

When I remodeled the house, I wired it to share one satellite receiver. So this picture shows the input/output behind the stand. There is an input for the satellite, an OTA HD antenna, and outputs for the other TVs. There are also multiple runs of Cat-5 terminated here to run HD to the bedroom via a balun.

Mine: designed and built a few years ago to fit what I had. 3/4" red oak ply with solid red oak face frame and drawer fronts.

One I built for a friend who has a wide screen and wished to place it in a corner.
Again my design and made from 3/4" red oak ply, solid red oak face frame. Link to the write up in a different forum.
