My wife has had a full length mirror sitting against the wall since we got married almost two years ago.... I couldn't take it anymore!! I've been tripping over it, and just having it leaning against the wall has been driving me nuts... So, here's what I did:
First, the victim:

Too plain to just mount it on the wall like a normal person... I wanted something that looked nice. So I went to Lowes and bought some door casing trim that matches the trim we have in the rest of the house. It comes pre-primered, as do the rosettes for the corners. Then, I used some 1/2" pine with an edge cut out of it to make a frame for the mirror to sit in, to which I affixed the trim with enough of a gap to let the mirror float inside the opening. (like a raised panel cabinet door)
Without all the gory details, here's the finished product painted to match the trim in the house:

But just making it look nice wasn't good enough. I had to mount it to a hinge so that it can be folded out and used from the master bathroom there on the right. (wink-wink, nudge-nudge) That's what I told the wife anyways...

Here's the real reason I put it on a hinge:

Turns out, I made the mirror just high enough on the wall that if you're sitting on the throne, you can clearly see the TV on the wall across the room. Gee, I didn't know that would happen, dear! She think's I'm
