With the talk you hear from washington about wanting to help homeowners has anyone had any luck? I hear the talks but havn't met anyone who the banks actually worked with. Any advice about how you did it?

I tried about 8 months ago with the bank to just try and refi and they said sence I was self employed less then 2 years they wouldn't do it. That was when I still I had about 20% equity in the house.

Now I am about 30-50k upside down in the house so that limits it some what. Wondering if skipping a payment or two would get there attention to maybe make them talk. I hate to do that as my credit score is really high. However I don't see myself buying a new car or a different house for atleast a few years so a bit of a hit wouldn't really matter as I would have time to bring it back up before I need to use my credit again.

Any opinions.

My parents did it prob about 1yr or a little more ago. They went in a did a refi on the house. Had no problems and he has really high credit.

But how much equity did he have? When my house went from almost $600k to just over $300k all of my equity went up and out.

Only bright side is that atleast it is still cheaper for me to own my house then it would be to rent it.

Oh well our house has not dropped very much. Our housing market has dropped but its still around a 275k house. Which is a medium priced house.

He only owned like 30k left when he did it.
