View Full Version : BLOWER FAN RUNS CONTINUOUSLY in 95 Explorer Limited

I've a strange problem with the heater blower fan running continuously even with the key removed form the car. The battery runs down quickly unless I remove the 50A fuse #6 which cuts all power to the fan.

I've seen similar links on this forum -- but no resolution posted for a 1995 Explorer "Limited" with the EATC. Likely the blower control module ( not the resistor type) or the EATC.

I pulled the blower control module - part # F1SH 19E624 AC now selling for > $240. Dealer tells me that this is special for the 1995 version, and that the often mentioned solution here on the forum of the XL2Z 19E624 AB ( ~$70) is designed for 2000 and later models. Can anyone confirm if they are indeed interchangable on the 95 Exp Ltd with EATC?

Thanks ...

Welcome to this forum! It might be a sticking relay. You could check the part numbers on WWW.FastPartsNetwork.Com for those parts.

Thanks for the quick reply -- however the EATC system uses a variable motor speed controller in lieu of a traditional relay. I'm wondering if the two motor blower control modules referenced above share similar connectors ?

Check Autozone's website to see if they have a schematic diagram.

Checked the Autozone website for schematics and also stopped by the store to chat with them live. The blower control module is not a part which Autozone carries.

Does the blower run constantly at full speed? It's likely a relay.

Yep - Blower Fan runs at full speed .... Ford however opted to design the 1995 Exp Ltd using an electronic speed control instead of a relay however. My questions relates to interchangability of the specific part#'s/versions of this speed control module.

There is a '95 Limited at the boneyard here- if you'd like me to pull the part for you, send me a location and pic if possible and I can snag it for you to try before getting a new one...

There's still a relay. That provides positive voltage to the blower motor. The ground from the motor passes through the Blower Motor Speed Controller which regulates the speed.

Have you tried the Self-Test on the EATC unit?
Key in run position. Turn EATC system on. Press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the automatic button within two seconds. The test may take as long as 30 seconds. When the self-test is completed, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) will be displayed in the digital display window to list those found during the self-test. DTCs will also be given for intermittent faults encountered during system operation. Record these DTCs. Press the blue (COOLER) button to exit self-test.

The 1995 Ford Explorer service manual shows the model with the EATC uses a 50A fuse feeding the positive side of the blower motor. No blower motor relay is described in the electrical diagram for the Explorer models with the EATC system. As you've described, the ground from the motor passes through the Blower Motor Speed Controller which regulates the speed.

Regarding the EATC self check... it came up fine with --888-- being displayed ..

Oh, I should've checked... I was looking at the 99 schematic. :banghead:

lol I forget to change the year when I go to look at the diagrams sometimes.

But if that's the case, then it seems there are no other options.

One other thing to check tho is to make sure the motor doesn't run with the module removed, indicating a short to ground.
