have a 94 4x4 with a 4 speed auto tranny. Yesterday I noticed it has begun to slip, so I need to start thinking...

I've been searching the threads and reading a ton (learned more in 45 min about trans than in my entire life) and I haven't seen a clear cut answer to my question...
What I am thinking of doing is converting a 1994 4speed auto to a manual tranny. Cost? Time in the shop ?(live in a condo, the association would kill me if I attempted this myself).

I figure that if I'm gonna shell out over 1k to rebuild the tranny, I might as well go for the Manual, which I prefer. This is what I have taken from the board so far as to what’s best for my applications: Advanced Adapters T5. But doesn't that work with...ok, information overload. I'm getting confused. Is there a "Idiots Guide to Trannys"?

I'd appreciate all the help you could give.

e-mail this guy rog@fast.net he just completed the swap on his '93 splash. He just went from a4ld to a 5 speed. I'm sure he would be happy to help. Or go here http://www.rrorc.com/ (rough rangers off-road club)and then go tthe club message board and post there.
