Thanks, John Sams01XplrSprt 04-29-2009, 01:30 PM welcome john BrooklynBay 04-29-2009, 09:36 PM Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the A/C section. It sounds like your system is low on Freon, and needs to be recharged. CDW6212R 04-29-2009, 09:42 PM The AC system has pressure in it, high on one side of the compressor, and lower on the other side. The low pressure sensor shuts off the compressor when the low side drops below about 35-40psi. Thus if there isn't enough freon, it rarely will reach above 40psi. When the compressor kicks on, the pressure behind it(low side) drops fast, and quickly gets below the sensor cut off point. The lower pressure sensor is shutting off the AC because there isn't enough freon to maintain the needed pressure. Since you can buy the new freon, buy one can and add it. Choose one with an added oil or leak detecting dye if needed. If the AC worked pretty good before, you may be fine for a long time after that. If it/s going down quickly, don't add freon if you are going to go to an AC shop very soon anyway. Regards, |
