ive got a 9 inch rear and a dana? front from a 68-69 bronco. has anybody done,or is this possible to put this front end in a ranger. any one with picture would be great or ANY info whatsoever. ive got a lot of machining skill and background but ive never swapped in anything like this. the rear will be no problem but im concerned about the frontand what parts i will need or to modify. for the record, i have a 4 inch susp lift now and a 4 inch body lift. but id like to beef up the drivetrain to accomadate my 302 and t5 tranny. thanks guys

8450, Welcome to the board. You didn't really get a good year for the EB parts, 66 -69 broncs had small bearing 9" rears and that will be ok but the dana front end will be a 30 instead of a 44. Ford switched to 44's in the 1970 production year. If your ranger is stock it has a dana 28 and the 30 would have comparable strength, you wouldn't really be gaining much if anything in strength by swapping.

I'm in the process of cutting and building a reverse cut Dana 44 for my ranger. It's out of a 79 F150. They come with disc brakes also.

If you can do your own machine work you're way ahead of the game, there have been several swaps done by members of this board and all have been very happy with the end results.

If you use the frt axle you have nothing will need to be done to it. Here are a list of the things I encountered so fer that will need attention

Trans crossmember will need to be fabbed, it's in the same position that the new(old) radius arms mount so the mounts will need to be incorporated into the trans Xmember.

Steering linkage

Brake lines.

Heres a couple links to other places that have info on the swap. http://www.therangerstation.com and http://www.roughrangers.com

You can check out some pics of my truck at the link in my signature. Good luck and ask anything you want, someone around here will have an answer.

well ive got the front end almost done. wasnt too hard, but i made my radius arm mounts adjustable so i could adjust the caster( or camber) i always get these confused. but anyway. i fabbed up my own spring mounts so i could retain my 4 inchj lift ranger spring without having to by new bronco springs. it turned out great, and i even gained an inch or so more lift due to the height difference in the mounting pads from my old axle to my new one. what angle is the best caster usually set at. this is all i have left to finalize, then its on to the easy stuff in the rear swap.
