What shock set-up do YOU prefer? tdavis 02-17-2001, 07:37 PM hmm.. your missing dual 9000's in the front.. :-) dual 9k's set to 1 in a dry wash are fun! You can just scream down it.. BlueDogBandit 02-17-2001, 09:41 PM Hey Tom, I guess you could just vote twice. Exta catagories have to be added by a moderator...an average Joe like me can only put in 5. RU MAN 02-19-2001, 03:02 PM bump leebo 03-09-2001, 12:05 AM I went ahead and added the Dual 9000's in the front....Blane...if you want just yell.....I'll take it off. I also chose the dual 9000 setup Stephen S 03-09-2001, 12:30 AM I have KYB shocks, but I think I am an extreme minority here with these, so you don't have to put another category. However, I would like to have Rancho 9000s, so I voted for those. Alto 03-09-2001, 03:05 AM Found out My Brother installed Monroe Reflex Shocks. I asked for Edlebrock IAS. Are they any good. I 've have my Explorer For about 2 months. The paper work is killing me. I have no Idea if they are any good. The one speed bump I can go over doesn't tell much. But they seem a bit stiff to me. Maybe I'll go for a drive and this time go fasted. Do they Suck Bumps drmoore71 03-09-2001, 11:48 PM i haven't gotten them yet, but in a few weeks, i plan to get the bilsteins. jimbo74 03-09-2001, 11:53 PM i have tokico because my dad got them put on at big o tires. they actually feel pretty good. so i am not voting till i get my explorer pro comps RFR2212 03-19-2001, 03:30 PM No Sky Jacker? Bah! Pete jimbo74 03-29-2001, 06:44 PM other i have blue tokico gas shocks Goober 04-09-2001, 09:27 AM Right now, I still have the Superlift(crap) shocks.... wonder where I can find some stock Pinto shocks? jonny 5 07-01-2002, 07:24 PM Ordered Edelbrock IAS kast week and they should be in this week. So I voted those X~FACTOR 07-06-2003, 04:36 PM I guess the shocks you need depends on the application that you are going to use it for. I know that lifted truck people prefer the Ranchos (correct me if I'm wrong) and lowered ones prefer the lowered Edelbrock IAS. I'm lowered so I voted IAS. jasonb 07-06-2003, 06:51 PM i added and voted Old Man Emu AlaskanJack 07-07-2003, 03:57 AM What no Skyjackers!! I love my Skyjacker softride Nitros terdrocket 07-07-2003, 02:56 PM I just put on Rancho RS9000X's last week. I love the ability to adjust the ride. TheJMan 07-07-2003, 05:24 PM I've got Explorer Procomp shocks on that my dad put on it years ago. The ride is a bit on the stiff side, and she dives under braking. I'm looking to switch them out with Rancho 5000s. Jester1994 07-10-2003, 10:15 AM hey guys, i don't want to change the direction of the thread, but I am thinking about replacing my stock shocks when I add my shackles, AAL and do the torsion twist for a 2inch lift soon. I don't offroad much, so I still need a on road type ride. but I wanted to know what you guys would recommend to reaplce the factory shocks, prices and where. Thanks!:D DeRocha 07-10-2003, 10:52 AM I have been running with Bilsteins for 1.5 years in my stock height 93' explorer. They are far greater than stock on road, but I don't have enough offroad experience to give an opion. AlaskanJack 12-27-2003, 11:38 PM Well on one I have Skyjackers, One I have Trailmaster and the last one has dual James Duff. Stic-o 01-07-2004, 11:51 AM I'm running Pro Comp 9000's right nowhttp://www.4wheelparts.com/assets/images/products/shocks/pro_comp/pro_comp_es9000_c.jpg There O.K. but I wish they made MX-6's for the EXhttp://www.4wheelparts.com/assets/images/products/shocks/pro_comp/pro_comp_mx6_c.jpg They said they would but I havne't seen any yet. My dad has them on his '01 F-250 4x4. There a little stiff but nice!;) jimbo74 01-13-2004, 05:49 PM arent they adjustable? so couldnt stiff be dialed out? KPT 01-14-2004, 08:30 PM Well theres no option for them but I run Rancho RSX's. Yardgnome 03-29-2004, 02:08 PM I have KYB shocks, but I think I am an extreme minority here with these, so you don't have to put another category. However, I would like to have Rancho 9000s, so I voted for those. Do you like the KYBs? My mechanic wants to put 4 new KYB on mine for $280. What do ya'll think? statcbc 04-09-2004, 08:46 PM I just put on a set of Monroe sensatrack on the front and rear of my 2002 explorer sport. Man! what a difference. Much better ride and handling with the new shocks. Wish i had done it sooner. drmoore71 04-09-2004, 11:38 PM well, i ended up getting the rancho rs 9000x's. i put them on yesterday, and DAMN do they make the truck ride better!! mosinman 04-10-2004, 11:29 AM what? no room for the Monroe Sensatrac? dreamr 04-10-2004, 02:59 PM Wow this thread needs an award for longevity. Started in '01 Eli 91 XLT 07-09-2004, 10:02 PM Sorry for the bump, but........ Since I was on a very tight budget, I just put on some KYB's and they're good for the money and highway driving. The reason I was on a tight budget is because I also needed new radius arm bushings and an alignment. Here's what made the biggest differences: #1 goes to proper alignment. Even after new radius arm bushings and new shocks, nothing made the difference of a good alignment. #2 goes to the new urethane raduis arm bushings. This killed the noise and some swaying. #3 goes to the new kyb shocks. At 20 bucks a shock, they only made a difference up front since my monroes were shot out. I feel they need to be stiffer so if I were to do it all over again, I'd get the kybs in the back (Unless you do towing) and something stiffer up front. If I had the money, I'd get the rancho 9000's. :) Don't let that suspension get out of check!! :) It's almost like driving a new truck. I'm going to check out and possible replace any other worn bushings. EMG7895 07-09-2004, 10:09 PM Stockers with 108000 miles :p |
