View Full Version : Converting pushbutton to lever

This may be on this site somewhere, but I could not find it...

It seems that I recall someone telling me that all the transfer cases used in 91 Explorers were the same type, only one was electronic and the other wasn't (or something like that).

Anyway, I have the push-button control (with a butchered harness) and I was wondering if it is possible to convert it to a good old shift lever on the floor, without changing the transfer case.

I know the obvious parts I'd need- the lever, boot, linkage(?). Can this be done, and what would this take to do?

Thanks.

There's no way to convert the electronic shift Borg Warner 13-54 to a manual shift. The only option is a full t-case swap (auto for manual). I'm in the process of doing this swap now. Would you be interested in buying my old wiring harness?
