Hey guys
I have been looking into getting the nighthawk for some time but have been waiting for a sale to come on. Recently I saw Nighthawk platinum's being advertised but can't find any information on GE's site. What are the differences between the 2, does one produce more light than the other?
Thanks
Scott

They sell them at Canadian tire. If i remember correctly the regular nighthawk bulbs were +30% bulbs while on the Canadian tire website it lists +90% for the platinum. I don't know if that's correct.
And i couldn't find any info about them on ge website either.

Here is some interesting discussion (see the link to Dan Stern also) on Nighthawks vs Silverstars.
No matter what bulb you use you need an auxiliary high power harness to get the most out of these or any bulbs. Factory wiring is not adequate.http://www.groupsrv.com/hobby/about188422.html

You are right about that, there doesn't seem to be any information about them anywhere. They like to claim 90% brighter but won't list output in lumens are any other real measurement.

I had the nighthawks in another car before and they were brighter... that was going from silverstars which were just blue tinted and not as bright. But i have just been running regular cheapo bulbs in headlights and installed auxiliary lights when i need them.

I decided to give the platinum's a try, just finished installing them. Notice a difference even during daylight over stock bulbs.

I haven't driven the vehicle since installing the bulbs but my parents Grand Cherokee with the nighthawk platinum's have a very significant light increase. It lights up alot more side to side and show street signs twice as far down a country road when compared to a stock xeon bulb. The light has a nice pure white colour to it despite the blue ring it doesn't seem to affect the performance.
