Hello all,

I found this forum via the Dogpile search engine and I'm hoping you folks can help me with some questions about my Explorer.

I recently purchased a 1994 Eddie Bower Explorer with a 4.0 V6. This is my second 94 explorer and I'm looking to get a bit more power out of it. The truck is bone stock and just seems a bit mousier than my last one. I don't do a lot of off roading in this truck but I'd like more power for when I do.

I've been eyeing some performance enhancing chips and such that are on the market but I'm leary of making that jump.

Any input you folks have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Kelley

Welcome to the forum!
As for your question, a quick search should bring up several threads about 4.0 performance. An intake and catback exhaust would be a good start for more response from your engine. Those two things have made a noticeable difference in my truck. I have no experience with chips, so I can't help you there. Also, if you're going to get a new intake, you should also consider upgrading the MAF and throttle body to get the most benefit.

Welcome to this forum! Those performance chips you see on EBay are not really computer chips. It's a resistor connected in series with the ECT sensor. Contact James @ Henson Performance. He will tell you what could be done. You have an EEC-IV system that's not easily configurable like the newer OBD-II systems.
