Gigantor 02-19-2001, 05:28 PM Im sorry to hear about the Explorer, and im curious to know how your wife is doing. Besides for the top that is severly crushed is there anyother damage??? It looks PERFECT, well if you wanted to make it a convertable, you kwno the BEST part of a J**P is that you can take the top off. Would you think about choping the top off and putting a full roll cage in?? If not how was it running, and would you sell it??? I'd love to have an old body style convertable explorer to beat in the woods:o)>
I hope your wife is safe, and there are bad drivers out that that drive Explorers too. I know we all hate to think that but they DO exist. And yet there are good J**p drivers out there too.
Have a great day
<><
JDraper 02-19-2001, 07:07 PM Hi Gigantor, Wife is fine. My 2 1/2 year old daughter was in the back at the time (in a safety seat) and both came out unharmed. Testament to seat belts and child safety seats, not to mention a good vehicle. I'll put up the other pix I have of the truck. I would like to sell it whole so someone else can enjoy it. I'll send an e-mail w/more info.
RU MAN 02-19-2001, 07:21 PM JDraper, I'm glad to hear that everyone come out ok. If you want to sell some things, i would like to pay the brush gaurd, and lights off of you. E-mail me if you want to make something work. I'm from Va, so its not that far from you.
Bigcheck1 02-19-2001, 07:42 PM sorry to hear about the truck. If RUMAN doesnt want the brushguard, i might be interested. I go to school at Bloomsburg University so I am real close and could come get it for the right price. Let me know
Maxxim_Hacks 02-21-2001, 01:48 PM So does anyone know how hard it would be to take, say, your frame and susp. and everything but the body and drop my body in it... would it work???
leebo 02-21-2001, 02:06 PM PART IT!!!!!!
I'll take the rear tail lights, the cargo tie downs right now. Let me know.
ps.....it would take alot to get that back running, even as a convertable. A ton of the strength from the explorer comes from the pillers on the roof which would be cut off if you make it a convertable. If you'd try this you'd need to beef the crud out of the body.
RangerX 02-22-2001, 03:14 AM Aw hell. I did that to my truck twice. First time cost $2200, second time $1400. They can graft a new roof on. Its worth checking out.
JDraper 02-22-2001, 09:06 AM Hey Leebo, actually it's not that bad. The thing still drive straight (even in 4Low) and everything works. Sorry, can't have the taillights, they are both busted. I've been considering going down to the local boneyard and cutting a roof and pillar section out of a scrapped explorer and welding this one back together. Or.....finding a sport in the boneyard and doing a body transplant. Best thing about fixing my body is the title is still clean, not a salvage.
Clint 02-22-2001, 09:22 PM fix it!!!!!
RFR2212 02-22-2001, 09:43 PM Knowing that new roofs can be grafted in...I'd say save it....Adds more meaning to the term, BUILT FORD TOUGH ;) Plus, then after that, you'll be closer to the truck!
Pete
JDraper 02-23-2001, 12:30 PM Hey Maxxim_Hacks,
A body transplant might be possible. It would depend on the location of your body mounts and wiring harness compatibility. I don't know if Ford changed the wiring for stuff like gauges and lights. Computer wouldn't be a problem, you could just keep the one that goes with the motor. I've never seen it done in late model trucks, only in the pre computer stuff.
jimbo74 03-01-2001, 09:26 PM yupo there are bad explorer drivers too. trust me i am one not on purpose just bad habit. probably being 18 male and all with too much testosterone, but still that isnt an excuse. i need to be a better driver
Swee294349 03-06-2001, 05:35 PM what would u take for the warn manual hubs?
thanks
JDraper 03-06-2001, 07:21 PM Sorry, the hubs are already gone. The rest of the truck is fair game. I'm parting it out.
jimbo74 03-06-2001, 08:07 PM how much for right front whole headlight assembly including trim and turnsignal and housing?
jimbo74 03-06-2001, 08:50 PM oops never mind i need a chrome one, sorry
Ryan1 03-07-2001, 03:13 PM hey sorry about your truck man
I would be interested in your Brush guard
and your sun visor if its not ruined
Thanks
Ryan
leggo 03-07-2001, 05:22 PM Its hard to see what might be damaged on the hood?
How much do you want for the hood like it is.
If it is a 5-speed do you have the driveshafts?
and do you still have the nerfs? If so how much?
I will be going to philly within the next month so maybe we could meet up then?
You can just e-mail me if you like...shoesarea51@aol.com

zensius 03-19-2001, 07:47 PM If you still have the dome light, which style was it? Oval or square? I'm looking for that.
JDraper 03-19-2001, 07:59 PM It's square
zensius 03-19-2001, 08:04 PM Dang, looking for round. Thanks anyway.
sohowcome 03-20-2001, 04:20 PM Maybe i'll part out mine.............hmm anyone want some firestone tires............
MeatWagon 04-25-2001, 09:55 AM Your wife must be a nice person . If it was my wife she would have hit the #%^&* J**p and then given him an ear full . Hope she didn't get hurt .
sohowcome 04-25-2001, 04:19 PM hehe gotta love the name MeatWagon sounds like some prison gang leader or some bad azz explorer :)
JDraper 04-25-2001, 08:07 PM We're gonna try this new stuff out :D ;) Wife wasn't being nice, she just reacted. Besides, if she had whacked the idiot, she probably would have pushed him into a head on with a semi. That's why she went for the ditch. She pulled out to go around the a**hole and saw the semi coming at her, so she just yanked it off the road to the left. Fortunately she and my 3 year old had their seat belts on and escaped unharmed
