If I install a 2 inch lift on my ranger can I still use my stock shocks or will I have a problem. I am trying to save some money by not buying the shocks from the manufacturer but people tell me that if I try to use the stock shocks it will rip them apart. I don't want to waste any money buying shocks that will brake but I don't want to spend any more than I have to.

The answer is a definate maybe.
Rear - if you use an add-a-leaf, your stock shock will be fine. If you use blocks, the shock will work, but you will limit the droop travel of the rear wheels.
Front - they will (should?) fit, but you will have very little (to none) droop travel.
For street use, I don't think you will have any problems. However, for trail use, you will not get maximum travel out of your suspension.

Good answer Scott. Jason, I was told just about the same thing.

Well, I decided to go with the Skyjacker replacement shocks for the front since they were only about $30 a piece. They are MUCH bigger than the stock shocks and will hoipefully firm up the ride a bit. Doing the lift install tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.
