Alright..i need some help..I've been looking at alot of 4.0 Ranger prerunners and most if not all run a C4 instead of the al4d. My question is where are the kits to do this? Since the al4d is computer ran how would you run the c4? Isnt the c4 run on vaccum? Well the al4d runs on vaccum too, but the torque converter is electronic. Anyone have any insite on this?

You should be able to just disconnect the wires to the a4ld and bolt in the C4. I don't think the tranny sends any info back to the computer so it shouldn't care. The only other problem is that you would probably have to swap out transfer cases. I'm not sure if Ford ever mated a BW 1354 and a c4 in a ranger. AA or James Duff might have an adaptor for it though.
I thought about this swap in lieu of all my tranny trouble but I decided that the lack of overdrive would kill me considering how much I drive. Keep us posted though, if its easy I still might do it. Someone else is trying to get a custom job for a Chevy 400 tranny which would be better, but more costly. Good luck.
