Hey guys I dont have an explorer yet but my parents do. I dont know what year or what kind it is. I'll try to find out. I know it's an automatic though. It runs pretty crappy, I need to know what kind of engine is good. I dont need a super good engine because I wont be doing any extreme off-roading. I just want to know what will run nicely and is also good for that off road shtuffs. I dont know anything about SUV's by the way...

I'm for sure that it is a 91-94 generation explorer. Also, please list a price range, minimum-maximum price range on the engine.

Welcome to the site. It just so happens that you have already found the best place to learn about Explorers, this site. You can learn just about anything you want to know right here. When I first found this site, I spent hours just reading as many threads as I could trying to learn more about my truck.

No, all Explorers are not 4x4. I am one of the unfortunate ones who owns a 2 wheel drive. There were 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive models made from 91 until now.
