I think that the 5.0 and t-5 swap is going to happen soon. the thing is i dont know how you guys are hooking up the wireing for the FI on the 5.0. are you buying the engine harness from ford or a salvage yard. or are you rigging the 4.0 wireing to work with the 5.0. I just got back from the library looking at the Chiltons wireing diagram for a 92 mustang and the engine wireing appears to have alot shared with the chassis wireing. basicly what i want to know is what is the best way to work out the wireing (not the easiest) as far as reliability and performance.

Wow, another 5.0 swap.

Anyway, wiring stuff. I highly recomend reading my entire conversion thread. Do a search and find my orginal thread on 302 conversion then read the part II trhead.

There are some sources mentioned in there for books and manuals. I bought both the
" How to understand, service, and modify Ford Fuel Injection and Electronic Engine Control" by Charles O Probst. It was like $40 bucks and I found it listed on some Ford Parts websites. Do search on that one.

Also, my favorite was a $25 manual written by Matthew Harwood called " Ford RAnger EFI V8 conversion Manual".
Even though its for Rangers it works great since everthing is so similar. Do a search for his website. I don't have it with me here. It is probable mentioned on the other threads too.

Now my disclaimer. I'm not at the wiring stage yet. I'm finishing up the engine bay area. Mounting the radiator, putting new injectors in etc. It seems like it will be fairly simple ( not easy, but simple ) to do the wiring right. I have a complete harnes from the donor vehicle. But, Dogman is buying everything new as suggested in the manual. That eleimantes a lot of trouble shooting.

Just remeber, this is not a simple bolt on deal. You have the complete set-up so that helps. There are tons of little things to watch out for in this conversion. So patenance is the key. Use on of my sayings that I stole from someone else.

" Ever been bit by an Elephant? Ever been bit by a mesquito? See it's the little things that get ya! "

I wish you the greatest of luck in your conversion.

Thanks Rob
