On the old explorers, 91-94, what are the bolts, metric? I have a inch socket set (full size) and they dont fit the bolts exactly right a lot of time on my explorer. But my mini set is metric, but they arent long enough. Would i be all set if I have a full set that was metric? Im sick of having a really hard time getting bolts off.

not sure, but i have the same problem...i think the problem now adays with cars is that they are half-n-half.half metric and half standard

I believe they are all metric. My 88' F150 was all metric. I don't know what year Ford changed .

speaking form personal experience, Ford uses both metric and standard bolts. I know a lot of the smaller bolts are 5/16" and the nearest metric equivalent will just not fit, but in many areas (like the 18 mm bolts throughout) it use metric bolts. Best bet would be to get a socket set that has both metric and standard bolts, that's what I have, and I take both ith me at all times.
