i have had my cb wire runnin throuhg the door sill for about a year now with no probs. i am about to get a roof rack and am going to mount my antenna on it, i am also gettin a scanner pretty soon and am gonna mount that antenna on the rack as well. i want to do a more "permanent" install, and was wandering of a good place to run wires, all of my cables are already pre-made with the ends already on them, and i would have to drill a pretty hefty hole to make them fit. where have you guys run your wires and where do yall suggest runnin them?

I placed my antenna right behind the front cross bar of the roof rack. I ran the cable up to the cross bar, across the bar (held on by black zip ties), and down the rail for the roof rack. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=1477133&a=12023731&p=43426206&f=0
I then cut the big connector off of the end of the cable, ran it into the big grommet under the lift gate, and sealed it with silicone. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=1477133&a=12023731&p=43426203&f=0
I put a new connector on the end of the cable, ran it behind the body panels and under the carpet to the center console, and out to my CB which is mounted on the center console. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=1477133&a=12023731&p=43426199&f=0
I needed a female to female connector and a 9' extension cable to go the distance.

I did what he said :)
My antenna mount is on the roof at the rear left corner of the truck. The coax is run into the truck through one of the large grommets and under all sorts of interior panels to the console. The end connector wasn't put on until all the routing was done.

Hey John,
I'd like to see those pictures you have linked in your post above. I'm doing my homework right now before deciding on a CB setup and I think I may like how you have your antenna mounted and your wires run. Can you get those pictures working or email them to me or something??
Anyone else,
Just in case anyone has any information that they would like to share with me, here is what I am thinking about. I'm looking at a used Midland CB radio (model 77-120ESP or 77-235ESP----any opinions??) and a 3' Firestik II antenna mouted to the front (or rear) cross bar of my factory roof rack. I'm looking for (I may have to make it myself) a clamp style mount that will clamp onto the stock roof rack cross bar and then install the antenna on a spring. I was going to run the coax through the rear passenger side door, but I think I like going through a rubber grommet in the rear hatch better.
About the antenna: I looked on the Firestik website and they make a Firestik II kit that comes with a 3' antenna, a clamp style mount, a spring, and 18 feet of their coax for $42.99 MSRP and the 4' kit is $44.99 (MSRP). (Now I just gotta find it in a store) I like the idea of getting the antenna and the cable in a kit. Will the 3' be enough for me or should I opt for thr 4' since it is only 2 bucks more?? Any advice is appreciated since I am just breaking into the CB world.
