Thanks.... That's my vote. My 79 F-150 has a 351 Cleveland and I have never had a single problem with it, man I loved that truck when I was in highschool, no one could ever beat me high marking.

I'll take the Boss 302 (4 Bolt) with a set of 351W heads. Had that in my '65 Mustang and it was Bulletproof!! Great motor!!

Sold it in college. Couldn't afford the repairs it needed. Still miss that car 17 years later. I had 3 of 'em, 2 65's and a 66.

I gotta agree with Char, the 426 HEMI is the Daddy of all engines, i couldn't pick one up, but if I can build my 440 right it will be a close second.

i voted for the 302 for our trucks, with 351 heads. most bang for the buck.

Well I voted for the 302 but my fav non-ford engine is the Chevy 350. Cheap hi-performance parts and rebuild parts. I am looking for one now.

Ryan,

You're not talking back to the teacher are you? You want to be put back on the list?

I KNOW it said favorite FORD motor. That's why I wanted an OTHER choice because I don't have a favorite FORD motor. :P

From 1969 to 1971, at the height of the Muscle Car Era, Ford produced some incredible monster motors that were ready for competition straight from the factory. From the base 429 "Thunder Jet", they progressed to the beefed up 429CJ (Cobra Jet), which included a bigger hydraulic cam, bigger carburetor, and better breathing heads. If that wasn't enough, the mechanical cammed 429SCJ (Super Cobra Jet) came with forged aluminum pistons and 4 bolt mains. The last word in the 429 line was the 429 Boss, which had hemi aluminum heads and went straight from the factory to the NASCAR track.

These motors created many a smile on the faces of the motorhead crowd, including yours truly. Like the old saying goes, there's no replacement for displacement.

429SCJ, baby. I'm gonna swap in a 302 into my Ex, though. I think I'll buy an old 5.0 Crown Vic, swap out it's engine/tranny, then see if I can afford another tranny and a 429SCJ for the Crown Vic. That would soo rock.

429! More Power! ::runs around room like a caveman, grunting and shouting "more power"::

I worked in a Mustang restoration shop in high school and I got to build some screaming 289's. My fav was a 289 with a t-10 in a 64 1/2. What a rocket!

my fav ford motor ir the 514ci bracket race 8.90/9.90 division engine. 600hp at the crank. thats what im droppin in my cougar. rippin out the 302 thats in it, rebuilding the 302 and putting it in my X. so i will have a 600ho cougar and a 230hp X. but if for somereason i come across some extra cash and dont feel like rebuilding the 302 i am going to buy a new 302 from ford raceing. the one that comes with 345 hp at the crank with gt-40 heads and valve train etc... =)
