I have just learned that the recall is going on until 2006. So, if you have firestone wilderness tires on your explorer with descent tread left on them, and are like me and don't do much highway driving with them, then just keep them on for about a year more. You can wear out the tread on them, then go get them replaced when the tread goes low. In other words, free tires. My two cents.

My firestones have about 13,000 miles on them. I took the explorer to a goodyear store and had them check the tread on them bout a month ago and the guys there said that my tires looked really good. my plan is to wait until tires are back in better supply and get new ones at that point. Until then though, I plan to keep a close eye on the firestones, especially as the temp goes up.
