How strong is the stock 8.8? Does any one know if there is up gradeable stuff for this axle? I'm just wondering!

View Full Version : Ford 8.8???? Derrick C. 05-30-2001, 08:00 PM How strong is the stock 8.8? Does any one know if there is up gradeable stuff for this axle? I'm just wondering! Robert 05-30-2001, 08:21 PM According to the 6/01 issue of 4-Wheel & Off-road, the 8.8 axle from the Explorer is rated to withstand an average maximum of 6,122 lb-ft of torque. That puts it ahead of the 5,982 for the Dana 44, 4,161 for the Dana 35 and 3,728 for the 8.25 Mopar. I would say it is pretty stout. rpenner54 05-30-2001, 09:54 PM http://www.pirate4x4.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=004060 http://www.pirate4x4.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=010359 Here ya go. Derrick C. 05-30-2001, 10:59 PM So is this true? Warn makes a full floater kit for the 8.8. rpenner54 05-31-2001, 09:40 AM They did, not sure if they still do or not. This will make you have a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern also. mattadams 05-31-2001, 10:01 AM Warn has discontinued their full floater kit for the 8.8", effective last years SEMA show as I recall. |
