I've read that if your O2's are dirty then this may be the next best step. Plugs, Wires, MAS ( cleaning ) most fluids,. Then this may be you best chance. The O2's are rated around 60,000 + then this could be the answer. Check the posts there are many answers these are just mine. Just my info! Back in 97' I was proven wrong. Hee Hee.
Good Luck! WELCOME Aboard my Boat!

they are part of the exhaust...most have it/them on manifold....the newer ones have several.

I see you have p235-75 / R15 tires, are these the original size ? if they are larger than stock it will change you gear ratio and in affect, change you gas milage. The O2 sensor monitors the air ratio of the burnt gasses and adjusts the fuel ratio accordingly. It is usually located in the exhaust section befor the cad.

Sschultz, my X was used , but they do have the original rims on them, so i believe they are the stock size.

My dad and I will be bringing it to a mechanice to have out fluids changes soon, so i will ask him what he thinks.

Also, I see so many additives that you can add to your gas tank claming to clean out certian components of your engine, etc. Do these work? Any one with proven results?

My '91 XLT came with 235's from the dealer bought new. So I suspect that some Explorers came with 235's and other with smaller ones. My friend purchased a '91 XLT a few months after me, but his lacked the performance axle package which mine had, thus he had the smaller size tire on his.
