i got my new car today. its a 98 sohc. man she's a beauty. but is having some steering problems. sounds like the rack or pump is bad. what do you guys suggest?

Drain the steering fluid, put in high quality synthetic steering fluid, purge out the air and the sound may be gone (or lessened).

(Right guys?????)

BTW: Welcome to the Explorer site. I'[m sure you'll find the site useful. Also get rid of those trailcats and get some 35's under that beast! ;-)

ya i know my 26" tires are pretty weak. i feel so bad. i feel like a woman and not a man manly enough for these tires. guys i'm really depressed. what type of tires should i get for the car?

Well, you could use my old tires for 20K or 25K, then buy some goodyear wrangler AT/S

Keep in mind also that the Ford power steering pumps are loud, it could be normal.
