View Full Version : DYNOMAX EXHAUST ????? frank jacobs 06-02-2001, 12:38 AM anybody try this cat back system ? is it to loud, did you really feel a differance ? how about MPG S.Matsushige 06-02-2001, 04:15 PM Hi Frank-I don't have a Dynomax Cat system, but I do have a Ultra-flo straight through stainless muffler with 2.25 pipes, hi-flo cat and Borla headers on my 91. It has a warm low tone to it. I think it'll give you a couple miles to the gallon if you can keep from using some of the newfound power you'll notice. Throttle response seems better and because I'm running 31's with my limited slip rear, I don't get a A for acceleration off the line. Where I do notice the power to kick in is at highway passing speeds up around 2,000-2,500 rpm range. I was getting around 18 to 19 on the exhaust system without the headers. I added only a mile a gallon more with the headers which leads me to believe that the exhaust system really may have not needed the headers. Hope this helps you. BoatsRcool 06-02-2001, 04:30 PM i have it.. it seems like the best deal to me.. pretty low $$. It has a good sound. tbomb 06-02-2001, 04:32 PM the dynomax will sound good around town, but you will hear a drone on the highway, kind of annoying, i took mine off and just had the exhaust shop put on a high flow, low noise muffler. now its just a little louder than stock, but you dont hear a thing on the highway, its great. one thing i found when it comes to exhaust, you cant take other peoples words for it, its different for everyone. some people say dynomax is really quiet, but for me it was too loud. if you can, you should listen to the different systems. hope this helps. S.Matsushige 06-02-2001, 06:41 PM TBomb is right about what is loud and what is not too loud. Its all relative to the people who are telling you what it sounds like. Brian1 06-03-2001, 01:48 PM I was about ready to post this very same thing! Right now with their rebate offer, a catback system costs $80!! including 2.25" mandrel bent pipes and their muffler. I am really considering it. The offer ends the end of the month. Is it a side exit for the early models, mine is a 91? Also does anyone have a recording of the sound of the Dynomax? I have heard one on an Explorer with a Flowmaster but not one of a Dynomax. config 06-03-2001, 08:40 PM I'm very satisfied with mine and I don't think it's loud at all - yes it is a bit deeper sound than stock but that's about it. I think it's a great deal and if there is a rebate offer it's a STEAL! BoatsRcool 06-04-2001, 06:52 AM it exits on the side... this thing is good for what i want it for, but its not fancy.. it doesnt come with a tip, and the end the way its shaped would be hard to put a tip on. its not going to be as loud as a flowmaster. |
